The Yak is a beast. no comparison
SeaEbb6501@reddit
Definitely a beast

The Skyhawk is a tank with wings and very resilient. Its wings will basically never fatigue fail because of how the strut distributes the loads. The як has cantilevered wings. See the Piper wing spar AD.

Yak is rated for aerobatics, Cessna isn't. My money is on the yak being stronger
TheOriginalJBones@reddit
Yak wing is strong like back of worker. Adjust opinion, comrade.
Flowa-Powa@reddit
YAK has more than twice the power and is aerobatic, completely different aircraft
MattheiusFrink@reddit
And twice the empty weight 🤣
markcocjin@reddit
Has any company ever tried to adapt the seating and interior volume and ergonomics of a 4 door sedan to a plane?
Would it be bad for aerodynamics? Has the ideal cross section always been to be as close to a circle as possible?
MattheiusFrink@reddit
Ever heard of a cirrus?
The theory is good, but the execution is usually shit.

Cirrus SR-22

Diamond Da 42 / Da 62 come to mind

Yeah, that sort of design is common in modern aircraft. You just don’t see it in your flight school because most of their aircraft are pretty old. For example, the Honda jet has pretty the same seats as in their minivan.

Compare legacy aircraft with cars of that era. Aircraft builders were heavily influenced by the automotive industry, especially styling wise.
I think an example of an aircraft family that kinda pulled off that car vibe is the Socata TB-9/10/20.

You want as little frontal area as possible, so narrower and shorter is better.

I’ve always been a fan of Soviet aircraft design, as far as visual appearance. Some of their fighters, bombers and even the helos have a more natural appearance, almost like they are alive, it’s hard describe.
Snokjakk@reddit
The hind epitomizes this
vyralinfection@reddit
Even if I didn't know that's a YAK, that 18T looks like whoever made it was used to making combat aircraft and trainers.
TheOtherDenton@reddit
Because it is exactly that, an "evolution" of Yak-18 trainer, now primarily for civilian aviation.
rcbif@reddit
The Yak has nearly twice the fuel burn rate of the Cessna to fly slower, lol.
I'm sure it sounds nicer though.
Individual_Dirt_3365@reddit
Yak was designed for aerobatic flights and aviation schools

"What’s as big as a house, burns 20 liters of fuel every hour, puts out a shit-load of smoke and noise, and cuts an apple into three pieces? A Soviet machine made to cut apples into four pieces!"
Had to think of this because of your remark. I don't know anything about this plane so I'm not judging.
StrigiStockBacking@reddit
Yeah, so? What's the point here?
Is this how lazy karma farming has become?
mkosmo@reddit
The Yak in question is a 4-seat, just like the Skyhawk. What are you trying to say?
Texas_Kimchi@reddit
I'd say a fair comparison is the Bonanza.

Size comparison
"Identical" ? hah
