How do you get the special license to park in the special red line parking spaces?

Just curious how does one become such a special boy? Those lines are red because it's Vip parking right?

Hi, firefighter here (I drive local). If there’s a hydrant on the other side of the cab of that semi, and there’s a fire, neither the driver or the company is going to be very happy because firefighters are generally very happy to make the shortest distance possible between a hydrant and their truck by “any means necessary”

I heard it’s not for the shortest distance but the smoothest and straightest run? To avoid kinks and stuff

A little bit of both I would say. I’d much rather put up 150’ of hose after a fire than 300’ of hose, AND I would hate for it to kink while I have a crew inside a structure
