I sure love to see critical, irreplaceable resources crammed ass-to-ass well within range of enemy missiles.
Reasonable_Host6199@reddit
Hegwid and the Angry Inch strategy??
Terminal_Phase@reddit
I thought the same thing.
The illusion of U.S. military might starts to crack pretty quickly when airframes that ended production decades ago start getting blown out of the sky.
Absolutely zero capability to replace 90% of them.
HortenWho229@reddit
Bit dramatic. I’m sure the US can make a plan to get new tankers even if they aren’t the same airframe

I don't downvote people I don't disagree with, so: you should check out how the current KC-135 replacement program is going.
Yvaelle@reddit
Ya I bet they could just flood a passenger plane with AvGas and stick a big-ass straw in it, ain't no thing.
HNL2BOS@reddit
well, we had a plan for tanker replacement and it's not working.....
IcyTable6584@reddit
Unfortunately not as simple as converting a passenger plane to a freighter (which is also very complicated)
HNL2BOS@reddit
one would think they'd be better spread across more allies bases?
Adjutant_Reflex_@reddit
One would think! Especially after they’ve already lost billions in equipment that was just parked.
LeCriDesFenetres@reddit
Seems like the perfect opportunity to neuter a good deal of US air capabilities
Raid_B0ssNSFW@reddit
Jesus. We're fighting a dumb war. I sometimes hope these airplanes get hit with missiles or destroyed by Iran. Then their a less airplanes for the war.

in what action and in what way do you think these tankers will be involved in that supports genocide?
mexchiwa@reddit
Before this, had the US military ever based in Israel directly?
podman131@reddit
Looks like a juicy done target....have we not learned from Ukraine?
LingonberryAlert8773@reddit
Active duty 151 kc 135’s. That is insane!
KiloCharlieXray@reddit
I'm assuming the one's without tail flash are McConnell birds. Man, are there any left stateside??
MaddingtonBear@reddit
Some of the blanks are Fairchild tails. I haven't seen any McConnells on the current deployment.
KiloCharlieXray@reddit
Interesting!🫡
KnownAdvantage5366@reddit
Are those bombers??
shrunkenhead041@reddit
Apparently, we learned nothing from Pearl Harbor.
dawn_thesis@reddit
or they learned how to trick Americans into a world war

Where does all this jet-A come from? God help us all.
Candle-Jolly@reddit
Easier to refuel B2s (US) and F-35s (Israel/US) from Israel. Round 2 of whatever this war is coming up.
iPhones_cameras_suck@reddit
Probably bombing civilian infrastructure next.
SouthFromGranada@reddit
Probably better protected from missile attack as well, what with all the issues the Americans have had with their airfields in Saudi Arabia.

As a side note, I'm quite bored of the most followed flights on the FR24 app being these guys just doing orbits and refuelling... I quite like the genuinely interesting stuff on that app.

Aaah, post it on the internet for everyone to see. This is a legit target.
RecognitionFew5660@reddit
Wow those look TINY
ResearchInformal8018@reddit
The four engines make people think they’re a lot larger than they actually are but the 707 and the 757 are roughly the same size.
TaskForceCausality@reddit
The KC-135 is based on the -80 rather than the 707, so it’s closer to a 737 MAX8 in length.
Qel_Hoth@reddit
For me, being born a few years after the end of commercial service for the 707, it's that every other commercial quad jet I've ever seen was a widebody so I just assumed that the 707 was also. But nope, it's just a first-gen commercial jet and a LOT smaller than expected.
MikeW226@reddit
Yeah, as news media, I rode on a KC135 decades back, and later on a KC-10 "Big Sexy". The KC10 dwarfed the 'little' 135's at the base.
mr_bots@reddit
And the KC-135 is narrower and shorter than both
RecognitionFew5660@reddit
God damn! 😅 that's even smaller than I thought 😅 it must be cold outside 😳 😅
JKKIDD231@reddit
Round XYZ preparations soon. Both sides did a ceasefire just to restock and rearm. There are no negotiations 😂
Iran downed an MQ-1 drone and USAF did air strikes yesterday.
octoreadit@reddit
Also needed to “trick” the Congress with another “mission accomplished.”
qaf0v4vc0lj6@reddit
He doesn't need to "trick" Congress. The War Powers Act is meaningless and unenforceable, Congress knows it too. That's why they have never tried to challenge the President's authority in it's entire existance.
It only exists to Congress can huff and puff about how the President is in violation of the law and his/her war is illegal. It's easy to campaign against war.

Literally everything is unenforceable because only the executive branch has any enforcement agencies
