I know he checked and cleared it first... but i still cringe as he put his left hand in front of the barrel and pulls the trigger... not once, but fucking 3 times.
Ive seen videos almost just like this before that ended way differently.
To be entirely fair it's not common knowledge that you have to put a glock with a switch in semi auto before disassembley but to be even more fair the atf sux
He was an ATF firearms âexpertâ spouting anti 2A propaganda and when he tried to disassemble a Glock, arguably one of the easiest to take apart, he couldnât do it.
So which is it? You start saying âthey donât take extra steps to field stripâ and then you say âwhy he failed was because he didnât remove the switchâ. So is there an extra step (remove the switch) or not?
Sorry I see the confusion, I didnât speak clearly. The 17 doesnât need extra steps. The switch needs an extra step. People are confusing this 17 with a switch to the 18c which needs to be on semiautomatic to disassemble which is technically not an extra step because that is the same as the 17 itâs just that the 18c ALSO has full auto.
So if for some reason you fat fingered the selector switch when trying to disassemble pushing it to auto instead of semi, then i guess you will need an âextra stepâ but not really.
To give him a tiny amount of slack the glock he was trying to take apart here had a full auto switch on the slide, which needs to be removed before the slide can be removed, but as a gun expert he should have known this
Is that the one made of porcelain that is undetectable by x-ray machines? Oh, no that's the Glock 7......my mistake that's just a made up Glock for a movie, kind of like this guys credentials.
Not an 18c. The 18c has the selector on the side of the slide. This appears to be a 17 with a switch. The switch is clearly visible on the rear of the slide.
First of all, the 18c isnât exotic. 99% of COD players know what it is and 80% of VR shooter players know how to disassemble one. Even tho use who have never touched a real gun in their lives.
Secondly, that isnât an 18c itâs a 17 with a switch.
I honestly hate field stripping Glocks, itâs not difficult per se but annoying. But I also donât go on national tv telling others what they should do with their guns.
But weâre talking about the director of the ATF. Why give him a pass? Heâs supposed to be the complete and total subject matter expert of the room. He supposed to know the Glock on the inside and out.
He is a federal official in the ATF. You know, the agency that heavily criticizes your 2nd amendment and has a history of mucking a lot of things up? The agency that doesn't understand firearms, even though it's literally in their name?
If you are going to work in an agency that handles firearms, you need to know how to handle firearms, even if you "just recently cut your nails." There is no excuse; hold all officials and agencies accountable.
TBF, I usually look like first guy trying to strip mine down, too.
I don't just sit around taking it apart and putting it back together over and over. I can't picture a situation where being able strip down two Glocks in 14 seconds is going to be a life changer

Glock the gun that shot ten thousand hands gets a pass. Bubba diddles his Sig trigger and Sig is the pistol than lives in infamy.

Glocks weren't going off in holsters without being touched, sigs where,
TacosNGuns@reddit
Ok
Fluffy-Map-5998@reddit
the phenomenon you are refering to was caused by people unintentionally pulling the trigger, or bad holsters causing the trigger to be pulled,

Whatâs the context of the clip? Why was he do assembling guns on a political news talk show?

It was specifically a full auto glock that has an extra step to disassemble.
IntenseSpirit@reddit
So... the specific style of glock that he's actually in charge of policing?
Drake_Acheron@reddit
Why are you lying? They donât take extra steps to field strip.
Yes, they technically take extra steps to completely disassemble, but thatâs not whatâs happening here
ASnakeNamedNate@reddit
So which is it? You start saying âthey donât take extra steps to field stripâ and then you say âwhy he failed was because he didnât remove the switchâ. So is there an extra step (remove the switch) or not?

Auto glock / had an aftermarket switch installed to make it automatic (for those who dont know).

Oakroscoe@reddit
So whatâs the trick to dis-assemble a 17 with a switch as opposed to a normal semi auto 17?
Kibblez01@reddit
Lock slide to rear, pull down on switch remove to remove it, then disassemble as normal.

Itâs a 17 with a switch. Stop lying
