Aesthetics aside, I don't want nooks and crannies and whatnot gathering dirt and dust where there is an option. So why not wrap that suppressor up in something with smooth sides? Keep it square or triangular or whatever, just not... that. I have a bunch of suppressors, the weirdest being the F&D149. But even that is round, although suggestive in other aspects.
BKO2@reddit
i would be willing to be it's a cooling/weight reduction thing. i'm assuming it was done via DMLSS, so maybe it would be bad to have thick walls in some areas? i'm not sure. definitley think a cover/wrap would be a good option
RayBluebird73@reddit
I searched from DMLSS and got links to Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support.
I think you meant DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) aka DMP (Direct Metal Printing):

SAS used to use the C8, was that because of the better barrel?
TheBulletMagnet@reddit
The SAS purchased the C8 as Diemaco had nicer barrels but was also willing to do bespoke runs for customers whereas Colt would generally only offer what they were already making with the view that 'if it's good enough for the US military then it's good enough for you'.
Colt was also automatically eliminated as the UK had rules preventing purchasing from companies that had gone bankrupt in the last x years which Colt had.

Can't wait to see these used against canadians
TheCheckeredCow@reddit
What on earth are you talking about? The Canadian Armed forces have never been deployed against Canadian Citizens (unless you’re talking about colonial expansion against the natives, but every part of the new world is guilty of that, not that it makes what happened right).
EnvironmentalBox6688@reddit (OP)
Technically not true.
Oka Crisis. But his post is still wild.

I think only one country has threatened to attack Canadians recently.

Colt Canada where Canadians can’t use it or own it unless ur working for the government
greatbradini@reddit
Unless you’re working for the government, why would you need to use or own one?
I can’t think of many situations where an average Canadian would need a semi or fully automatic suppressed firearm, let alone a grenade launcher…
TresCeroOdio@reddit
Every day I thank god for the bill of rights. It’d really suck to be born somewhere where this mindset is the norm.
Able_Experience_1670@reddit
It's not. These people are just the loudest here. In reality all this is just political posturing that'll waste a billion or so on nothing.
TresCeroOdio@reddit
What? I’m talking about not having to justify why we NEED arms.
Able_Experience_1670@reddit
I mean it's not the norm here. Just certain areas and demographics.
TresCeroOdio@reddit
It quite literally is the norm to not have to quote the bill of rights not being the bill of needs because you guys do not have an inalienable right to bear arms. I don’t get what’s controversial about this take.
Q-Ball7@reddit
I can't think of many situations where I'd need to share a country with a whiny little bitch, yet here you are.
I need an AR-10 for hunting because it's lighter, cheaper, and more reliable than comparable "civilian" designs, which is why the fish cops use them. I need a suppressor on it so I don't have to wear ears or otherwise be disruptive when I shoot a deer at 7 AM, which is why ERT use them.
Able_Experience_1670@reddit
Metis here. Please stop telling other people what they need. You really have no idea.
-Suppressors aren't stealth magic. They mean you can sport-shoot without getting fucking tinnitus.
-Semi autos have been here for a long, long time, and only became an issue because of the Poly Souvient lobby. The SKS is still non-restricted because my people and other indigenous tribes have fuckloads and the feds fear another Oka.
-Semi autos mean a bear doesn't fucking eat me.
-These bans were never about function, and anyone who knows the firearms regs and/or the functionality of the weapons on the ban list can see that. (See the .22 that's illegal with a plastic shell but legal without).
-Please direct your enthusiasm toward our stupidly corrupt border enforcement and moronic politicians who fear US reprisal so much they won't stop guns at the border.
-We literally can't afford this ban, none of the LE bodies want to start door-to-door searches, the feds tried to get Canada post to do it (fucking lol), and Alberta has flat out refused. If anyone tries to push this through and start seizures; it'll degrade into an absolute shitshow.
Please just go away. Our regs were fine. Now they're a clusterfuck.
greatbradini@reddit
Nope, Canadian who hunts! Don’t know why you needed to highlight your Métis, still a Canadian. Sounds like you have a bit of a skill issue and are an irresponsible hunter if you need a semi-auto.
Duh, still not necessary for hunting.
Oh really? That’s the sole reason?
You often run into aggressive bears while outdoors? Again, sounds like a skill issue. Not making enough noise? Don’t know how to use bear spray?
How bout the regs covering every possible variation of .50cal, including a literal cannon? The regs make perfect sense, if you’re trying to close every possible loophole.
I can do two things at once lol
Sure we can! Police and RCMP budgets go up every year, specifically to go after and prosecute criminals! Seizures are threatened every year for decades and haven’t happened yet; and besides, if an SKS wants to take on a police department, go for it! Every human has the right to self-determination, they’re certainly able to defend their right to bear arms with their life!
Our regs are still fine, you just can’t shoot whatever form of lethal tool you want. Boohoo.

those polar bears are tough sons of bitches!! /s
El_Cactus_Loco@reddit
you could say the same thing about lockheed martin or any defence contractor
TresCeroOdio@reddit
The same can be said for Colt USA. We can’t get our hands on 604s, 921s etc easily.
OldPuebloGunfighter@reddit
Why is everything in tan? Wouldn't it make more sense to make it green like the outgoing rifles? Is Canada expecting to get caught up fighting a protracted war in the middle east?
Stormshow@reddit
Old habits die hard. Same reason people are using multicam colors when they're far too Mediterranean for a continental environment.
Panzerkampfpony@reddit
Who would have thought the replacement for 5.56mm AR is a nicer 5.56mm AR and not some overly complex brick with 20 round mags and ammunition that destroys the gun.
CraziestFiddle10@reddit
Wish we (US) would’ve adopted something similar. As in a 556. Not sure how I feel about the 6.8x51. Seems like we already learned that an intermediate cartridge is logistically better than a battle rifle cartridge. M14 volume 2 lol

The Bad Dragon suppressor

That is the ugliest suppressor in existence.
It took the trophy from Jesse James' abomination.

Obligatory non-Euclidian suppressor.
EnvironmentalBox6688@reddit (OP)
The geometry really is funky.
Great performance though. Much better flash reduction compared to currently in service devices. And it's available for basically any in service rifle caliber up to 50 BMG.
Island08@reddit
I wish they’d list weight and material. I bet these be chunky.
EnvironmentalBox6688@reddit (OP)
7.62 is 1lb 9oz. I have yet to see any stats on the weight of the extended version.
Materiel is inconel AFAIK.
EnvironmentalBox6688@reddit (OP)
Rifles are replacing the in service C7 and C8.
C25 is 13.7" barrel. C26 is 15.7".
Monolithic upper with an LPVO being selected as the optic of choice. Also seen with a thermal.
The MFMD is a real neat piece of kit. 3D metal printed to allow whacky geometry.
C27 is also a marked improvement over the M203. Shoots great.
