My mom’s collagen filled chicken soup

It’s so good. I added lime juice and cilantro to it because I needed to use them up
AMCAPEHODLER@reddit
This is very common in the Caribbean
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
Yes, my mom is Caribbean :3
AMCAPEHODLER@reddit
That makes sense then lol chicken foot sous and soup slaps so hard
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
Ooh I love cow foot souse. So freaking good
AMCAPEHODLER@reddit
Yess that's one of my favorite. Even a cow heel soup is fire. I like it guyanese style with split peas dhal instead of lentils.
pana_colada@reddit
I lived there a long time. My favorite is bull foot soup. Similar vibe.
fluffyscone@reddit
chicken feet is a favorite food for Chinese and most Asian food. Dim sum chicken feet is even better. They cook it so tender the bones fall off and the seasoning makes the dish. If you ignore the look it taste good
spaceporter@reddit
Chicken feet are a pain in the ass to eat. They taste good and make for fine nibbles, but there’s just so little reward for all the effort.
They’re like aenemic wings with all the tiny bits you have to spit out and no meat.
dogpoopquestion@reddit
I had rattlesnake once and it was pretty much this same experience
Prestigious_Pay2759@reddit
Not to mention, the smell of cleaning a rattlesnake
spaceporter@reddit
I’ve had it in soup, but the chef did all the hard work, so I enjoyed it.
dogpoopquestion@reddit
Rattlesnake or chicken feet? lol
spaceporter@reddit
Rattlesnake.
My spouse is Chinese, so I eat chicken feet somewhat regularly.
Ig_Met_Pet@reddit
Believe it or not, most of the people who eat chicken feet aren't spitting out any of those bits you're talking about.
spaceporter@reddit
When I lived in China, my in laws mostly were spitting the hardest bits into a bowl as they ate them.
You might be right, but often with foreign foods you tend to eat them following the first example taught.
Dupps_I_Did_It_Again@reddit
Filipino? I never could eat the chicken feet, they called them Adidas. That soup wad always weird too, little clovers in it?
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
Mixed Caribbean
blackbartimus@reddit
That looks really good I bet the feet a good too tbh but I’m not squeamish about stuff like this at all.
Cosmics2cents@reddit
My grandma used to make similar soup with chicken feet like this i would suck the meat off (no not like that) and it would taste great
glassfeets@reddit
‘no not like that’ has me crying
Machaeon@reddit
Poor grandpa
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
Yep! That’s exactly how I eat it. Suck the meat, spit out the little bones, sip the broth. I can’t wait to eat leftovers but I’m making pork dumplings tomorrow
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
It was extremely tender. Almost everything in the pot was falling apart because she cooked it so long. The broth, my god, probably her best yet 😩
Crissy40@reddit
The meat is like a gelatin, but a little firmer is very good
shitty_mcfucklestick@reddit
I’ve had chicken feet, they just tasted like chicken wings, but such a pain in the ass to eat. All the little bones are annoying.
taylorthestang@reddit
I had to double check the subreddit I was on
Ive-no-idea@reddit
This isn't shitty, it's probably super delicious and nutritious. I'd eat it and I've never had chickens' feet (I do eat the hearts, throats, eaten livers, smoked pigs ears, cow heart, kidneys, cow tongue...) I'm definitely not weirded out and I'm not Asian 😂😂
destinyeeeee@reddit
Chicken feet are so frustrating to eat I'll just use them to make stock and then toss the feet out
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
Oh really? I just suck the meat off one finger toe at a time
fernandopoejr@reddit
oh hey there quintin
romariojwz@reddit
Having_A_Day@reddit
Yeah, me too. They make excellent stock but trying to find and extract the meat molecules is just too much.
Palanki96@reddit
This is just regular food in some countries. My grandpa liked chicken feet in soup but i still have no idea what's there to eat on them exactly
beautifuldesigned@reddit
y'all eat chicken wings cow tail and pig but get scared of sum feet
meowkitty84@reddit
I'm not scared it's just gross to me. I don't like gristle and chewy parts of a steak. So I don't think chicken feet are for me.
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
And chitlins
LasagnahogXRP@reddit
That is not shitty and collagen in your diet has been associated with good skin healthy hair and elasticity in your joints. If I knew a better way to take it in I would eat it often.
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
It’s more about the look than anything else
LasagnahogXRP@reddit
Right on
xiipaoc@reddit
Chicken feet... ehhh. I don't understand how people eat that. It's been explained to me. But it's just... bones and cartilage! There's a little bit of fat, OK, but there's no meat on those! Reminds me of these absolutely delicious chicken feet I got once at a little-trod restaurant outside of Chinatown; they smelled so good and had delicious flavor, but there was no way to actually eat them because there's no actual meat on those things. Plus it makes a mess. I just don't get it.
But man that soup was probably so silky!
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
You just suck the meat off like you would do a crawfish head
Obant@reddit
As an owner of chickens... Their feet are the grossest part about them and are extremely common to get infected. Bumblefoot is the #1 illness you'll see on /backyardchickens. Their asses are cleaner than their feet.
Budget-Chair8242@reddit
you can buy them de-boned btw.
xiipaoc@reddit
OK but... why? I guess if I really wanted to make my own Chinese-style chicken feet I could do that, but I might as well just use chicken wings at that point, and if I'm making a stew, then I definitely want those bones, right? Interesting that this even exists.
gatiju@reddit
yeeep, bones and cartilage 🤤 some of us just... have issues.
MisterNefarious@reddit
I find them super unpleasant
SignsOfDamage@reddit
Always wanted to try chicken feet but can't bring myself to do it.
JackxForge@reddit
I've raised chickens. No fucking way I'm putting their feet in my mouth.
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
I mean some people put human feet in their mouth, this one is atleast seasoned really nicely 😶 (unless you don’t eat chicken at all then I am so sorry)
AyYoBigBro@reddit
If you get it in a restaurant it will look a lot better than this, trust
azu420@reddit
Foot fetish soup
EsotericCrawlSpace@reddit
There are so many fingers…you don’t even care….exactly what our grandmothers said.
belaGJ@reddit
I don’t think it is shitty. I do not eat feet, but they are legit ingredient all over the world, and bone / skin parts in soup bases are just great.
haroldvazquez@reddit
Alot of people here don't know how to eat chicken feet.
ChefAsstastic@reddit
UAreTheHippopotamus@reddit
I love making stock with chicken feet but never have been a fan of eating the dino grabbers themselves and usually discard them after some rather gnarly chopping, boiling, cooking and then straining. Bet that tastes amazing though.
SwissPo740@reddit
MisterNefarious@reddit
I don’t like chicken feet
Geta211@reddit
The chicken feet turn me off but I bet the soup was outstanding
MadamVoid@reddit (OP)
That broth was sensational omfg. And I had to stop myself from chewing on the chicken bones for that good marrow 😩
