And that brings us to the other inherent problem with this idea. You really are not practicing dating, you are paying somebody who is going to make sure you have a great experience.

This person is going to laugh at your jokes. They’re going to tell you that they like what you’re wearing. They’re going to be really pleasant. If you ask them to critique you, they may pick out something, but overall they’re going to be kind and you’re not going to get any real feedback or practice on what it means to date.

Better idea is to find someone either online or in real life and to go on an actual date. Even if you’re unsure how you feel about the person and never hurts to just go out for a quick meal or a cup of coffee. And this actual person will give you genuine reactions and help you to understand which of your stories are good and which ones will normal people find appalling. You’ll see when you’re talking too much or asking too many questions. It’s far better practice.
