T.V. Set ups? Here’s mine.

In my 2024 Pete 579, I have a 24” Insignia Amazon Fire Smart TV. Top resolution is 1080p60.
My streaming apps are YouTube, Paramount+, Bell fibe, and Tubi
Also have a mini PC, where I can use a windows desktop version of Google Maps to trip plan and check out shipper/receiver facilities.
Wifi access at most of the truck stops I stay at are either unreliable or nonexistent, so I use my phone’s personal hotspot for internet access.
I’m with Public Mobile (subsidiary of Telus), and pay $39/month for 80gb of data at 5G speeds. I have yet to use more than half of my data allotment before it resets every month.

It's a bit small. But it gets the job done.

That's what she said.

It’s the biggest TV I can fit without modifying anything. I’m happy with it.

Thats a big reason I’m not considering a 579 anymore, just not a fan of the layout and the TV placement is a big part of that.

You could get an extension bracket for the mount to give yourself more space. Also, consider a curved monitor. I used to use a curved 27" monitor, had a similar mounting situation in my old kw, and the curve lets you get away with a slightly bigger screen.

It’s a tv for ants

does this shit ever feel like a jail cell to you? I swear I was losing my mind doing OTR

I think it’s just what you make of it. I park the truck near cool places and do stuff nearly every weekend. I only do 34s in the truck if I just want a chill weekend watching TV, but that’s rare.

I’m leaving OTR after 2 years. Prior to starting I had almost nothing to my name. Now, I saved a good chunk of money. I’m not super wealthy but I’m not paycheck to paycheck/broke. Doing OTR allowed me to save with limited expenses.
It’s tough. There is no doubt about it. I don’t have any regrets but I’ll never do OTR again. You just can’t live a “normal” life. I’ve made the best of it, lowering expenses, not eating at truck stops (I buy food in bulk at the store), not wasting money at casinos, exercising at PF or in truck with adjustable weights, and trying to stay as positive as possible…BUT it’s freaking tough man. I don’t see how anyone can do it 5, 10, 15+ years on the road. Kudos to them but not for me.

I met a guy who had OTR for 20 years. He wanted to get on with Walmart. No idea how he managed to go from his 20s to his 40s doing this.

Never felt like a jail cell to me. I’m “Regional”, and get 60 hour resets at home on weekends, so I do get time out of the truck.
That being said, I do enjoy the gig, but I feel like my “regional” runs feel more “local” to me being that I’m kept close enough to take my 10 only a couple of hours from home. I do occasionally get decent runs that are 2 days out, but they’re rare.
I’ve voiced my desire on several occasions for much longer runs, and that I’m more than willing to do a 36 hour reset on the road, for a *real* long-haul run across the country, provided that I get enough notice that I can inform my family I won’t be home that weekend, and stop somewhere I that I can re-stock my fridge for the 2nd week out.

Since I just posted it in another thread... This is a 43" 4k and a 35" ultra wide in my Freightshaker. I had to take the side panel off the microwave cubby to fit it. https://imgur.com/a/YakbzFb
