Dear Freightiner engineers, why put the light test in the middle of the cabin lights?

Freightliner.... Engineers.... Pick one.
xoutlawtrucker@reddit
Or the radio cutting off every 10 seconds because of crappy lane departure. Or the 362 feet of following distance required or cruise basically wont work. Shocks filled with sawdust for bumpiest ride ever. This is my first and last Freightliner.
HowlingWolven@reddit
If you bought the truck, swing by a shop to disable all the bullshit beeps sweeps and creeps.
WTFisjuice1@reddit
Really? Nobody made a comment to your reference, huh... i tried to post the gif but couldn't
DanEpiCa@reddit
That won't fix the god awful ride though... I swear at this point I'm convinced Freightliner engineers specifically made it their goal to make the truck ride as bad as possible.

Only truck that causes back issues for me
DanEpiCa@reddit
I feel like it's actively beating me up every day, lol.
HowlingWolven@reddit
Yeah, but it’ll fix the other annoyances. (not that you should have to in the first place, mind you)
DanEpiCa@reddit
Yeah, one step at a time I guess and yeah I agree, the assistance systems are annoying as hell, not because of the systems themselves but because they did as good a job implementing those as with the ride...
Coming from European trucks that was quite the adjustment for me, lol.
John9250@reddit
But does it disable cruise? Because that shits all tied together especially for the adaptive cruise
HowlingWolven@reddit
They can program it so it doesn’t.
xoutlawtrucker@reddit
Its leased. The cost of new has just gotten ridiculous and Ryder maintains it bumper to bumper, but they wont let me change the following distance or disable the useless and awful safety system. I have never hated a truck so much in my life. If I wasn't locked into 2 years I would have gotten rid of it the first time I drove it. I cannot believe that people drive these Freightliners and Internationals and actually like them. My Pete's and KW's drove so much better there is no comparison.
Then_Entertainer_370@reddit
Just wait until it goes out and the radio only goes to 15 that can’t be turned up on the touch screen or steering wheel.
John9250@reddit
That’s if you have a newer one with the touch screen. Mines a 22 with all that shit everyone’s talking about lol
MostlyUseful@reddit
As much things that I see and hear from Freightliner drivers about the inconveniences they deal with, I’m thinking they hire engineers with instructions to make things as screwed up as possible.
Gofindmango@reddit
& don’t forget the reverse setting in manual mode & it’s sensitive & I always have to put it in economy mode for it actually be less aggressive when backing up
ghostedbydefault@reddit
If you can, turn on the e-clutch setting if your truck has a DT-12 automated manual transmission. That will smooth out backing and take off considerably
Gofindmango@reddit
What ?? I need to google this, I tried googling why it did that & I couldn’t find anything..
It’s a 2023 Freightliner
ghostedbydefault@reddit
My bad, it's called "Creep Mode". It makes the gas pedal behave like a clutch pedal in reverse. I really like it on my 2019 cascadia since it makes it easy to move very slowly when maneuvering
xoutlawtrucker@reddit
Mine actually does this if I tap the brakes. It will go into a super slow crawl in reverse.
ghostedbydefault@reddit
Worth noting, if it doesn't show on your truck, it's not necessary unavailable, just disabled and can be reenabled by someone with the appropriate software like Detroit Diesel Link
Princetrix@reddit
Why make the hood mirrors invisible unless the seat height is raised to the sky?
PrivatePilot9@reddit
Some peoples "to the sky" is "not sitting on the floor" however. I don't get drivers who ride around with no air in their seats and all the isolation features disabled, your body is going to pay the price down the road..
Available_Quote_5567@reddit
Becuase I’m short
Princetrix@reddit
Always need some air, but I’m also 6’3 so I need the seat pretty low.
ServrHax@reddit
Buttons in the cab are placed by whomever ordered the truck, engineers will choose the layout and location of the buttons in terms of rail placement, but that's about it.
FocusedADD@reddit
How about Pete putting the axle interlock right next to the air slide release? That one's my favorite.
dontdoxmebro2@reddit
Dead freight liner: light tests are for pussies.
RH00794@reddit
Its randomly place. Mine is on the completely other side. If you can take the dash apart you can move it else where.
PrivatePilot9@reddit
I'm just pissed that they decided that was a good location for the hazard lights button. Pinning to a trailer and ready to do your circle check and want all the lights on and forgot before you got out? Yep, gotta climb back into the cab 3/4 of the way to hit it. Volvo puts it near the door so you can reach it from the ground.
Gaijin_Entertainment@reddit
Better than a kw, why did they stick it all the way at the top of the dash 😭
DANO8503@reddit
On my truck m2 freightliner, there one on the dash and one on the inner door frame where the door closes, so you can push it without being inside the truck
DANO8503@reddit
You can move this switches you know.
Solid-Jicama-597@reddit
People swear by Frieghtliners, in ny opinion they are the worst trucks, internationals are cheap garbage but it rides better, and is just set up better than the Frieghtliners, straight doo doo
John9250@reddit
How many times have you hit it? I saw one dude with his curtains pulled and his light check going 🤣 like you can hear that clicking
tvieno@reddit
Talk to the person who ordered it. My light test button is on the far left.
Have you thought about opening up that panel and just switching the two buttons?
Wicell@reddit
Yup, buttons are placed where they're ordered, mine is on the right side of four-ways, next to utility light button.
Excite_me69@reddit
I just got a freightliner, when I go to sleep and turn on optimize idle with interior comfort on, I wake up due to heat and engine not running. Do you know how to fix that?
DanEpiCa@reddit
How are your settings in the sleeper looking? The opti idle is pretty much the only thing I think they did right and actually works, lol.
HowlingWolven@reddit
The switches are on can bus. You can move them pretty easily.
JOliverScott@reddit
The switches can be rearranged pretty easily.
Yadilie@reddit
Just engineers being engineers. They're easily changeable. It's pretty fun turning Traction Control off as I'm getting onto the highway after leaving work in the morning because the truck I slipseated into has LKA on a different slot.
