Lufthansa just resumed 747 service out of Toronto today, great to see

Unless you’re near a freight hub.

Royal Dutch livery, palm trees ... a Tuesday at Princess Juliana in the early 2000s, I'm betting. Photo probably shot from the pool area at the Sonesta Maho Beach ... beauty!

i’m gonna get a lot of downvotes for this, but do ya’ll ever fly on the 747s?
it’s a much, much worse experience than a modern plane like the 787 or even the 777. they 747’s are so noisy, the seats are old and uncomfortable, lighting is bad. fine for cargo, but lousy for people.
10 years ago i ended up on one of KLM’s combo-747’s - awful. i haven’t flown KLM for an intercontinental flight since. every so often i end up on one of lufthansa’s 747’s cause its a convenient route/timing and always regret it.
it’s good they’re a rare sight. put them in museums.

I've flown on a KLM 747, and a Lufthansa 747. The KLM's were scheduled to be retired in 2021 (accelarated by covid), and were rather threadbare nearer the end because why invest anything but the bare minimum in an aircraft that'll be gone in a few years time? The Lufthansa 747 was a better experience, though also clearly not as comfortable as a modern 777, 787, or A350. But I still enjoyed the experience and in the end, ten hours in a economy seat is never fun, regardless of how modern and comfortable the aircraft is.

I work on one as a FA. They are pretty old. I agree with this.

Somehow freighters just don’t hit the same as a passenger 747……
Sowf_Paw@reddit
Disagree, I love any 747. Seeing one makes my day, even if it's one of those all white ones.
Sowf_Paw@reddit
Passenger Queeens perhaps, but there are still a lot of freight Queens. I live near an airport that gets a lot of cargo in and out and I see them often enough.

Depends entirely on where in the world you are located though. Lufthansa operates several and you will always see a queen at say AMS.
