I’ve started watching MTV Classic and it makes me feel good. It’s feels youthful.
I remember watching MTV with my Mom when it was first launched.
Then with my buddy’s as a teen.
I should be drafting an RFP for work but I don’t give a shit anymore.
I want my MTV!

I had head bangers ball going on friday nights when I am working in the shop. I had MTV classic on quite often. We just ditched out satellite tv.

Head bangers ball was the bomb!!!
Dam, I have not thought about that in a long time.

I hated MTV and I still do.

You must be a Reverend Shaw Moore fan.
Google it!

Where does one get access to this gem? Do they have replays of the original VJ's?
125acres@reddit (OP)
I was watching it on YouTube TV

I miss it, when it was actually music. Loved Headbangers Ball and Yo! MTV Raps. And Kurt Loder. It was the best

120 Minutes.

I spent a sleepless night watching this channel in Denver and being amazed at how horrible most of these videos look on a 4K tv. Time has not been kind to SD video…

I like the grainy picture.

On behalf of my fellow Canadian Gen Xers, I would love for Much Music to do something like this

I watch YouTube music videos from the 70s 80s 90s. Satisfies my nostalgia craving.

Yeah, I went on one of my YouTube binges last night & realized I was basically using it to approximate Mtv.
Tough_Arm_2454@reddit
I've done the YouTube binges after big bottles of wine.
I like the Playlists youtube builds for you based on your searches and clicks. 😆 🤣 😂

Yes, there may have been some Campari and thc products involved :)
Pretty neat, though. Like you can guide it or let it go off on a tangent, etc.
If I ever get married I want the DJ to play the videos along with the songs.
Digi_Rad@reddit
Is this only on cable TV? Man I miss having that sometimes (but no the bill).

Yeah I have old music video channels playing in the background while I’m doing work. PlutoTV (free streaming) has a bunch, transports me back to the era when music videos ruled. It’s great!
ForgottenGenX47@reddit
Yeah, the Vevo music videos on Pluto are legit.

Here I am, just moving along my beautiful Sunday afternoon. And here you go talking about vintage MTV, and all I can think about is Stevie nicks in that one video. Edge of seventeen? Stand back? I can't remember which one but I'm pretty sure that video thrust me straight into puberty.
Significant_Sun5095@reddit
I looked forward to 120 Minutes every week.

Prime has several music channels 60's-90's.

Check out on Archive.org. There are loads of original recordings of MTV from the 1980s. Hours and hours of content with videos, vintage commercials, and the original VJs.
Also the Vevo 80s channel on Pluto TV (and other online sources) has a nice variety of classic music videos.
