4k monitor with 9060xt.i am dumb?

I wanted a monitor bc I had an 1080p 60hz so I asked my friend who is pc enthusiast and he told me that "trust me bro 4k is better than 1440p" even tho I have a 9060xt 16gb.Because i trusted him i bought the 4k monitor and now my fps has gone down 3 fold.from 150 fps to 50.When I complained he told me "just use fsr4 performance it looks even better than native 1440p" which helped quite a lot getting me around 90 fps.
1)should I sell it to get 1440p monitor?
2)does 4k performance mode actually look better than 1440p native?
3)any recommendations to improve my experience with 9060xt/4k monitor

I definitely think a 4k monitor with your card is a bad match. That said. If fsr 3.5 or higher (because then you can upgrade the dll file to fsr4) is available, performance upscaling should look really good. The problem is when it isn't available.

All new games have fsr4 right...right?

Many have yeah. But not all. It's just not very practical to be bound by upscaling to be able to play a game properly. But if a game has it, you should be good

Yeah but the reality is upscaling is usually available when he's gonna actually really need it.
If it's some title where Optiscaler isn't available nor in game FSR because it's so damn outdated, the 9060XT really should be ok to get 60fps.
Its not an ideal card for the job but its workable, should probably trade up though.

I would much rather have 90 fps and 4k with fsr 4 upscaling from performance than 1440p native and more fps. The image quality is very important to me personally, I hate seeing pixalation.

You have both 1440p and 4k monitors and you prefer 4k perf over 1440p native?

Up to you?
You've been looking at the graphics and performance so surely you know the trade off.
In my opinion I'd never choose 1440p any mode over 4k Performance mode, presuming like for like settings. I just wouldn't. 4k always looks better, you cannot get round the pixels and the fact you upscale from better resolutions.
9060XT is a bit weak to be sure but I personally am always ok with 60-100fps on single player games, if it was me I would use Performance mode and tweak settings till I get 60 minimum at 4k then cap FPS for stable performance. Sure as hell would never go back to 1440p.
Also make sure you're utilising tools available to you, Optiscaler and such, that will help extract performance across more titles.
Hope you find something that works for you.

Thank you so much dude.do you know a great in depth but easy to follow optiscaler tutorial?

Sadly, a 4K monitor is kinda dumb. The 9060 XT simply doesn't have enough performance to drive that many pixels for most games, even with FSR upscaling. 1440p is a more reasonable resolution for that GPU. Even then you'll likely need to use upscaling for some games.
