How do I paint a car on a small scale??

I’m about to move out of my parents house in just a few months, and I’m getting a car for the first time. My little sister is pretty devastated and I was thinking that I could let her go at the car with paint, but when I look up how to paint a car it only comes up with the whole car, she would just be painting a design into the side or hood or fuel cap, but obviously not the whole thing, basically just doodling over it. How do I make it last and stuff like that?

I've had success with both spray paint and acrylic paint. Acrylic will look a little nicer. No matter what kind you use the key is to make sure the car is clean and dry beforehand and to go over it with a few coats of clear car enamel. You don't need to remove any paint underneath where you're painting. Just be aware that with these kinds of paint they will not look glossy like the rest of the car, they will look matte

I’d probably put a clear paint protection film on, let her paint that and then put clear film over the design.

Not a professional, but I think you’ll have to sand the clear coat off, do the design, and then clear it again if you want it to adhere well and be durable.

Just let her go at it with acrylic paint after throughly cleaning the surface and then spray over whatever she does with clearcoat. It might not last forever but it’ll hold for a few years
