you sound like you have no idea what youâre talking about. do you not have curious levels of athletic competition in your country?

What are "curious levels of competition"?

In America college football and basketball are just full on professional sports leagues that just so happen to be loosely affiliated with universities. The only way to make it onto a team in one of these leagues is to be scouted, evaluated and signed to a contract just like in any other pro sports league. The whole school and academics part of the university is just an entirely separate thing from the pro sports teams they run. Ones ability to get into Alabama or Ohio State has no bearing on their ability to play on either schools football team

For the college sports with a professional path later it takes a lot more than just working hard. You need that extra bit that comes from talent and coaching. You could be the hardest working athlete spending time studying the sport to get better but still never be good enough to go pro. On the other hand some of those almost pro players may become better coaches.

I think they think all you have to do is work hard and you can be successful at D1 sports. Dude those people are incredibly talented and work incredibly hard to make it. I know as my sister was a highly successful D1 basketball player. She was naturally tall, and agile, but she worked her ass off to make it.

OP doesnt realize how difficult it is to be a D1 athlete
IcyGrapefruit5006@reddit
Yes itâs very easy to be a top level athlete đ

What?
thowe93@reddit
I think youâre trying to say, âWhy are D1 sports so revered when if you just work hard, anyone can play them?â
Is that the gist?
The answer is because itâs not easy to play at a top school by just âworking hardâ.
