Having a Datsun as a project car means lot of rust!

I made a post here a while back when I started my restoration here is the current state of my 240z.
It has been a year and a half of rust repairs. I just finished a major patch panel and here is a link to how I made it.

Ya know what? Maybe restoring a classic car isn’t for me…

I have to drive to work in 12 hours and my mk1 Golf daily driver is currently levetating in the air with no driveshafts, bearings or brakes fitted

I hope this post motivates you to at least think it ain’t all that bad.
I have an Impreza with an engine in pieces waiting to hit the machine shop, and an S10 that I ordered the wrong axles for. But at least the WRX hasn’t exploded yet!

You guys are crazy. I bought a bunch of tools thinking working on cars was going to be fun. I did an oil change, installed sway bars, took me 6 hours and decided maybe it wasn't for me...

The first few times it can make you question it, but the savings and satisfaction of a job (maybe) well done is really what you’re after.
A big secret is that when you have the right tools for the job it does get easier and more fun. The Impreza engine being torn apart is in fact my first one, but because I had a vast majority of the tools needed it was still a very enjoyable experience. At least so far.

I've now had the motor out of a Subaru so many times I could probably do it with my eyes closed.

That’s kind of the goal on the first round. I miiiiight take up a more serious project car because of it. This was just a $500 car I got that needed a lot of work. Figured what the hell, worth it to learn a lot. Need 48 dents fixed and did a paint job too. Still a long way to go though.

I used to have a couple datsuns.
They tend to be particularly rusty cars.
It was... slow progress. I probably should have kept them for longer, I could have used the welding practice.
Twin44@reddit
I’m already 41. I might do some small welding to learn but this is a whole other level. I’ll do the cabs and rockers on my S10 and probably call that the limit.

I built a rotisserie just to fix the rust on my Datsun.

Buddy, i was already sold out of doing it lol

Fine bit of fabrication
MGPS@reddit
It’s insane to me that you can fabricate shapes like these

Nice work, my friend! Great video, too. Nice editing and camera work. And I also very much appreciate that you wear PPE while working.
