Aventon Pace new deal? Asking $1200

Looks like it has both keys in the pics and they have the receipt. They are asking $1200. Is this a good deal? They say they have only ridden it like 4 times, bought in 2023. This would be my first ebike, and I've heard this is a good brand to "buy once, cry once" since I was also looking at the brand Puckipuppy people here seem to dislike. My dad has two that he likes, but I think I would use it to commute to work, which is a lot more than he puts his bikes through.
Is this a good deal, or is 2023 pretty old for an ebike? I would want a rear bike rack for a bag/basket would that be expensive or special compared to one I could take off of a normal bike and use?

No not to me. I would buy this for around $6-800 or a new one. But that’s me. I would spend the extra money and have a warranty

What makes you value it so much less? Do you know if/what differences there are between this model and the current ones?

In terms of e-bikes, the technology is constantly changing and the batteries are getting better and better. If I were you I’d only get a used bike from upway because you get a warranty. Outside of that, I’d save and get one you would really want.

Ok thanks. What brand(s) would you recommend looking at?
People on here recommend brands my local bike store has, but my local store only has Troxus which I don't really see talked about here.

Can you give me some more info like the type of riding you’ll be doing, budget, how far you’d like to ride, will you be using is for exercise/pleasure, or also commuting?

My area is pretty flat. Mostly roads and paved trails. But some dirt/ gravel/woodchips.
If I start using it to commute, it probably wouldn't be more than 10 miles one way, but there is variations in my job site. Some of my work is in forest preserves, so it would be nice to have a bike that can handle dirt/ gravel, but it doesn't need to specialize in that.
I'm hoping to spend around/less than $1000, but it seems like that wouldn't get me a brand people seem to like.
I would like a step-through bike and I would plan on adding a rear rack for a saddle bag and/or storage for work stuff.

Lectric would be the only brand I’d recommend at that price point. However, I don’t like their bikes for your situation. I would recommend saving and getting the Aventon Aventure 3. They make it in a step through. It’s a hybrid style bike that good for paved and gravel paths.

That one over the Pace because of the fat tires?
PitifulDisaster3688@reddit
The pace is a cruiser style bike. If I was going to get a beach cruiser I’d get a Velotric Discover 3 or an Urtopia Carbon Classic. My wife has the Discover 3 and I have the Urtopia Carbon Classic. We love them both. The Aventon Level Rec and Adv are good options. I think you’ll be very satisfied with the Aventon Aventure 3. You’ll be able to take it pretty much anywhere.

You’re buying a 3 year old bike for only $450 less than a new one. I would spend the extra money and buy new and get a full warranty. We bought hey bikes from the bike shop for $1500. That includes yearly maintenance and full warranty. I would take that deal any day over buying used and paying for tune ups and anything else that goes wrong

I think they are asking too much for a three year old bike.
No more warranty,
It’s a decent brand for sure. And it does look like it has low use.
But I just think it’s too much.
If in the states 4th of July is coming up, and you might be able to snag at decent price for new with some accessories,
New comes with better battery technology and other improvements over that three year old one.
Some shops will honor the online price during sales
If you don’t know anything about bike assembly or not savvy with tools, I would definitely purchase in a shop vs online and assemble your self.
If they are willing to drop to 800/1000 I might consider it.

My concern is always the battery. If it was stored at our near 100% for the last 3 years it will have lost a lot of capacity and lifespan. Unfortunately there's no good way to test this on a second hand e-bike battery. A replacement is about $500. Personally I'd need more than a $500 discount off the new price to cover the risk.
