My first CD purchase as a teenager. Sounds amazing on vinyl.

I’m on a kick to recreate my high school era CD collection on vinyl.
1 - because it was stolen out of my car in the early 2000s.
2 - because I fucking can afford it now. Well. Not really. But that hasn’t stopped me!
I call it my “Class of 97” collection.
This one was a staple. My first CD I bought with my first paycheck from the grocery store I worked at before I even started high school! I worked like 3-4 hours just to buy it at Pamida. lol.

Excellent choice!

We got our first CD player when I was 12, as a family christmas present; everyone got a CD for christmas to play on it. First CD I ever owned was Weird Al Yankovic's "Off The Deep End", which was a brand new release at the time.
First CDs I ever bought, like with my own money, were the Jurassic Park soundtrack and They Might Be Giants' "Flood".

Stone Temple Pilots has aged much better than most music from that era.

Soundgarden and Alice In Chains have also done great. As much as I was a Nirvana fan boy, I don’t think they aged as well.

As I get to older Alice in Chains gets better. Jar of Flies and Unplugged just drip with emotion.
I also agree that Nirvana has not aged as a well as others, and I think the honest truth is that their studio work isn't as good as their peers. I listened to Nevermind a million times in high school but it definitely lacks the nuance and depth of Stop and Alice in Chains.
Never was a fan of Soundgarden and I don't think it's held up well.

I think for me, Nirvana lyrics sound very juvenile. Production polish was one of Kurt’s terrible lines of thought. He preferred raw to well mastered. Said he was embarrassed about Nevermind. Even though, that was partially responsible for their success.

I was so listening to cassettes when I bought Core. My first cd ever was Ride the Lightning.

The first time I heard dead and bloated in my uncles truck was an awakening in my soul. I was listening to Huey Lewis before that event, then went searching for Metallica and other hard rock/metal after that album.

Core is a phenomenal album. The DeLeo brothers are excellent musicians and songwriters.

All facts. But I’m telling you, there’s something amazing about this particular one on vinyl. It’s like Weiland is singing to me in my living room.

I’m still rocking the cd!

Love the pioneer. I have a similar one

I got this one for $60 on Craigslist. I just spent $160 for a kit to refurb it myself. I probably should have brought it to a pro, but honestly....those dudes aren't around any more. So maybe I'll end up being that dude.

You should be that guy! My guy closed down as well.

Oh - and I got a matching Pioneer turntable from a friend. I'm going to re-veneer the receiver after I fix it and do the same to the table so they really match.

Core was my first CD! There isn’t a bad song on that album.
Where did you buy it? Still remember how cool it was to buy CDs at Streetside Records

Pamida (midwest version of WalMart in the 80s/90s)

Stupid complaint; I finally got a halfway decent record player so I could listen to all of my dad's old LPs and I completely forgot how few songs were on one side.
