What rifle is this?

Okay so I found this rifle in an old storage unit I bought. It didn't have any internals so I'm trying to figure out what the rifle is so I can finish it. Any ideas? No serial numbers anywhere the metal was rusted to hell and back. Mainly asking to complete it as a show piece. Never done this before

Okay so I found this car in a storage unit I bought. Can anyone identify this hubcap? I want to find out what kind of car it belongs to so I can finish it. Any ideas?

Bad comparison. There are easily four hubcaps and a couple rotors here.
BenefitKey8953@reddit
I’ll give you three and a fist full of lug nuts
AccomplishedGap3571@reddit
throw in a K98 extractor and I'll take it.
BenefitKey8953@reddit
Then you’ll have to build a car and a rifle

When I was a teenager I worked for a guy who was known as the Hubcap King. He had many multiples of hundreds of different old and new hubcaps and knew exactly what make, model, and year each of them came from.

M1 Garand stock. Painted, perhaps intended for drills or parade duty.

Yeah when I got it it was the original color. My friend told me it was her grandpas but I didn't know. There was no barrel for it so I don't have a serial number

You need FAR more than a barrel. You also need a receiver, bolt and bottom metal.
Your knowledge of firearms is lacking.
Sensitive_Box_@reddit
Did you paint it?
Top-Alternative-737@reddit (OP)
Yes
Sensitive_Box_@reddit
Why’d you do that before finding out what it was? What if it was a priceless heirloom? Lmao
Captain_Morgan33@reddit
Definitely not an M1 Garand…

That's not a rife. It's a stock. Stocks generally don't have or are required to have serial numbers.
Beagalltach@reddit
I'm confused OP, if it didn't have any internals what do you mean the metal was rusted to hell and back?
This looks more like a maiser short rifle variant, possibly a Spanish 1916. The members on r/milsurp would probably ID it in 5 minutes.
Top-Alternative-737@reddit (OP)
It didn't have the barrel. The metal pieces are in gold that were rusted bad but I cleaned em up and repaired them and the rifle
Beagalltach@reddit
Got it.
There wouldn't really be any serials on those parts as that is reserved for the barrel and/or receiver normally. At most they will have an acceptance stamp or a couple digits of a serial, but generally they will be bare.

If all you have is this stock, you aren't going to "complete" it. If you had the rifle missing the stock you could complete it. To make this back into a rifle, you need the rifle. Find someone in that position and they might give you $50 for it, but there's no reasonable version of events where you get this back together without spending as much as if you had no stock. And at that point you can buy whatever you want and it'll be that.
Deeschuck@reddit
Looks like the stock of a 1916 Spanish Mauser to me, or some variant thereof.
If all that you have is what's pictured here, you'd need a complete barreled action, bolt, and bottom metal to complete the rifle. The action is the actual 'firearm' part, legally speaking.
militariaman@reddit
This is likely a stock for the M1916 Spanish Mauser short rifle.

I don’t think it’s an M1 Garand. On an M1 the front forend isn’t attached to the main body and is a solid piece that wraps around both the top and bottom of the barrel. This looks closer to a faux m1903
Top-Alternative-737@reddit (OP)
What makes you say faux? I don't care if just wanna be able to get a barrel for it
Tempeng18@reddit
The brass hardware bands aren’t right for an m1903. Ceremonial / drill / parade rifles made to look like an m1903 are pretty common but too different to drop a legit m1903 action into it. Are there missing pieces not shown in the pictures? The bands are for clamping two additional pieces of wood down on top of the barrel. Would need to find those two matching pieces for a proper fit to secure the barrel properly.
