Commercial Requirement

Hi All,
I just want to confirm that IFR XC requirements do not count towards Commercial XC requirements?
FF is showing that my long IFR XC checks off the 2 hour day XC training flight.
Thank you for your time.

yes, you can make it count but, does it matter, you need the time anyway

Your instructor would have had to log the flight as satisfying both 61.65(d)(2) and 61.129(a)(3).
While it’s possible that the same flight could satisfy both, I think it’s better to do them separate as you’re supposed to be training entirely different things.

I agree; that’s what my Comm DPE said basically.. luckily I had another 2hr daytime XC to cover.

Instrument and Commercial both require 50 hours of cross country. Neither has a long list of detailed requirements. With a little planning it's super easy to hit all the requirements individually. I'm a fan of keeping major requirements as clearly defined and separate as possible so there is no wiggle room for an examiner to ever say "you are not allowed to double dip on requirements."
When you have to convince someone you're right then you've already lost.
