For the haters *** As an OTR truck driver who travels with a cat, I’d argue I’m probably the bigger source of filth in the sleeper than she is.

My boots walk through truck stops, fuel islands, warehouses, parking lots, rest areas, diesel residue, road grime, and whatever else is on the ground. My cat mostly stays in the truck, and when I take her outside, it’s usually on a leash in grassy areas or to a shower to chase a jingly ball around.

What’s factually interesting is that cats are obsessive groomers. Studies generally estimate cats spend about 15–50% of their waking hours grooming themselves. Dogs, by comparison, spend only a small fraction of that time self-grooming, often estimated at less than 5-10% of their waking hours.

So while my cat is definitely responsible for most of the fur and litter dust in the bunk area, I’d bet I’m responsible for 70–90% of the actual dirt, oil residue, grime and bacteria that gets tracked inside.

The cat may own the hair on my pillow, but I probably own 99% of the actual filth that gets tracked onto the truck.

Out of all the animals you could train to be on the road., cats are proven to be much more resilient and cleaner than any other animal.***

So yall can hate on cats all you want.

This is a clean shower room at pilot…I personally watched the guy mop it and I used a spare towel to dry it.
