If someone does a cool ocean's 11 style heist, they shouldn't serve any prison time.

The jury would decide if they are guilty or innocent, then the jury would consider whether its a really cool rad heist as a mitigating factor.

Fo4 example, The louvre heist was pretty decent, so they should like a 50 dollar fine if they ever catch them.

That’s a great counterpoint. The entire point to doing a big elaborate oceans 11 heist is to not get caught, so if you do get caught you did it wrong and should be punished.

I agree if they're stealing from a private rich person, but the Louvre heist was tragic and no punishment is too severe for the people involved in that.

Weren't they just the jewels of some rich white people that got put on display as if they were a significant part of history? Why is celebrating wasteful decadence from centuries ago somehow better than modern wasteful decadence?

That depends on your idea of cool.

Imo guillotining thieves who steal unique artefacts from all of us (the Louvre is a palace full of treasures maintained for the people) is much cooler.
