It is an honor to be a part of it, regardless of how long 🫡

In all honesty, no idea on the actual service history of it. Won it in a govt surplus auction I bid on, on a whim while I was pooping the other morning. Surprised I won. There was a massive amplifier and sub left in it that I could probably sell on marketplace for close to what I paid for the car itself. Hence the no regrets!

Pal you got a small issue there on the quarter
EECruze@reddit (OP)
My (ForeskinFore) man, it is no small issue. It’s everywhere. 😬

Of all the cars I saw in my years of working at a used car auction, none of them ever seem to rust as badly as this generation of Cobalt and Cavalier.Â
At one point we had a section of these lil Chevrolets that were all like $500 due to them all being not only rusty, but rotten.Â
Never forget the time a cavalier pulled in, I looked under it and the rear subframe was so badly rotted I could remove chunks of it with just one hand

Yeah this one is nearly there. As I said in another comment, this car is not going to see another winter. It wouldn’t survive haha

It's looking a little Minnesota, but for $540 it's awesome. If you get something that runs for that price it's a bargain.

It's looking Minnesota, but feeling California

Guess who’s going to listen to Soundgarden today? Haha
EECruze@reddit (OP)
Absolutely, unibody is in rough shape which sucks because mechanically, everything else purrs. No way the clutch is 20 years old. I hope I can bring new life to it, 24 hours and it’s the most fun car I’ve ever owned.
THartje@reddit
Even with the rust its a hell of a deal if its mechanically sound! Nice find.

Thank you! Man, it’s incredibly tight. A few repairs and standard maintenance, it’ll be even better. I am worried about putting too much into it if the chassis isn’t salvageable though. I’m no expert so I’m going to cast a few nets, do some research and have it looked at by some body shops and try to get some realistic expectations before I dive in too much further.
