Display port on new pc faulty or am I being an idiot?

Hello, hopefully someone has had similar issues as myself and can guide me in the right direction.
Im trying to connect a portable monitor to my pc as an extra display. The only option I have is using the display port on my pc to my hdmi port on my portable monitor, but I'm getting no luck, I thought it would just be as simple as plugging both ends of the cable in and it would work but having no joy.
Tested the same cable and portable monitor on another pc with a display port and it worked no problem.
I am using a display port to hdmi cable, if that makes any difference.
Also the pc I'm using is a mp100 mini pc
Thanks in advance

What kind of adapter is this? It's possible it's a DP++ adapter, which isn't always support.
Or how many displays do you have hooked up already? Most GPUs have a 4 display limit, though intergrated GPUs might have less (and AMD really hates sharing the specs on this)

Just the 1, just trying to set another up so I can have chat up on a 2nd screen when streaming.
This is the pc i bought Pc
Sounds like you know alot more about this stuff than me. Thanks

How about the adapter?

This is the cable ive got bud. Cable

Yeah, so it might be the DP++ thing, from the product description:
And yeah the spec matches the ones on the Wikipedia article I linked:
I would attempt a better adapter that higher than this so that it's not a DP++ adapter.

I don't suppose you could link an adapter that is DP to HDMI that isn't dp++ could you? I am useless with this stuff, thanks for looking into it bud.

Something labelled 4K@60HZ should work probably: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Basics-DisplayPort-Uni-Directional-Gold-Plated/dp/B08FBGNR8C
The things to avoid are DP++ are passive.

So I got thr cable and it did give me the extra display so thanks for that, but when using the 2nd display, I have 2 webcams connected to my pc via USB type c, and it would freeze 1 of them, guessing causing some sort of interference, so will just have to stick to 1 monitor haha.
Thanks for the help anyways.

Appreciate the help, will report back when I get the cable

Sounds like the mini pc doesn’t display port to hdmi cable.

I didnt know that this was a thing tbh, how would I find out if that is the case?
