I’ve heard that the body style evolved from the transportation used by hunting parties in days past (shooting). “Brake” is some sort of dated term meaning “wagon” I’d guess
There was a different Ferrari shooting brake I saw at this same event ages ago. It’s now owned by Beau Boeckmann, to my knowledge. I think this Daytona is nicer. Judge for yourself: https://rmsothebys.com/auctions/ca18/lots/r0005-1965-ferrari-330-gt-22-shooting-brake-by-vignale/
I love shooting brakes and can appreciate the design cues of this car’s era. However, I don’t like the juxtaposition of this with the 365’s design aesthetics. It’s jarring and dissonant.
The ugliest Ferrari made even uglier. I love classic Ferraris and I love shooting brakes. I've always hated the Daytona, and this looks terrible as a shooting brake.

Can someone explain to a numpty where the term shooting brake came from and what it has to do with cars?

Never would have put that together!

Great!

Looks like it robbed design ideas from The Beast but made it more streamlined.

A lovely r/shootingbrake

Used up all the blinker fluid, that’s why BMWs are so short of it.

I feel like Erin Gray should be driving this thing in a space suit, with a little robot in the passenger seat.
Orruner@reddit
I like it but, the big back window along with the black paint scheme make it look like a funeral car
Bland-fantasie@reddit
Not the car to get rear ended by a cement truck in.
junkyard_robot@reddit
Or, and hear me out, absolutely.
Might break your spine, but the payout would be bonkers if it didn't. And double if it did.
FWD_to_twin_turbo@reddit
Just putting it out there, cement truck insurances usually cap out at a million, might not even be enough to cover a car like this tbh.
Bland-fantasie@reddit
That’d be a pretty sweet silver lining!
SentientDust@reddit
I'd love to have that as my hearse

Can we please get more ferrari shooting break posts to happen?

That one I like a bit more, the light grills and that bumper. Its a lil more busy but looks so good.

Hideous. Daytona is one of my favorites, and I say that as a Guigiaro fan, who finds later Pininfarina designs less appealing.

A few rear-facing seats and we're in business.

This is incredible. That era of the 70's is some of the best. I like the back window looking like a glass usb-c port.
dim13@reddit
A hearse?

This is the traditional flower car the follows behind
junkyard_robot@reddit
More like the traditional car that follows hunting parties with the guns, and shows off the game on the way back.
Still comes from a tradition of carridge makers designing for the purpose.
SoundlessScream@reddit
I like how the back has big enough windows for everybody to see all my piss bottles and empty chicken nugget bags back there
junkyard_robot@reddit
If you're keeping piss bottles and empty chicken buckets in a car like this, you should be proud enough to show them off.

Oh yes. 250 GTO 3413GT was another highlight!

The rear looks like it was inspired by one of the Volvo 1800 ES design studies. Back hatch, It’s almost dead on.
