What mother board do I need?

Hello! It’s my son’s 16th in June and I want to upgrade his set up. I have a new processor - an Intel core i7-12700k. What motherboard is compatible with this? Do I need to get more ram too? Anything else to consider? Thank you!

Do you use ddr 4 or ddr5 ram? The way to go in 2026 is 32GB of ram. If ddr4 get a msi pro b760-p WiFi ddr4 for example

Okay. If it is ATX get the Msi, I telling you. If it is MATX get the Gigabyte B760M GAMING PLUS WIFI DDR4
And if your Son have for example 2x8GB of ram at the moment get exactly the same Kit

You can see by the size of the motherboard. Could you perhaps send a picture of your current PC, or do you have the current specifications for it?

The size of the case. You can count the PCIe slot covers on the back of it. An ATX case would have 7. an mATX would be smaller and have 5.
