A spokesman of the new left-wing opposition party (polling second) of former prime minister Tsipras, has confirmed that, should the party form the next government, the alliance with Israel will be preserved, on the basis that the national interests of Greece "come first" What do you think of this?

There are grievances towards Israel in Greece, sure. But we trust Israel far more than we trust Turkey. So, we support Israel diplomatically and we receive military support and investments. It disappoints many, mais c'est la vérité.

So you are OK with genocide as long as you come on top. Taking notes here.

There is a saying in Turkish: denize düşen adam, yılana sarılır.

The party that polls first isn't going to stop the alliance with Israel either and I guess neither the party that polls third. I guess it's about realism and understanding that even if there are some disagreements about how their goverment handles some things it's still beneficial to have them as allies.
Excellent_Jeweler_43@reddit
Israel does not have allies though, they have enemies or servants
numba1cyberwarrior@reddit
I'm sure Bulgaria is very generous with its many allies.
Beautiful_Ad6686@reddit
Bulgaria has more allies than Israel

Literally this

It's so easy with you guys, you all belong in the same basket, wasting your free and your paid time posting on Reddit about "Tsipras" and such. Inferiority complex Greeks. In fact I'll make a meme about you to flex on you.

Basically they're clearing up that if they get elected they will not act as a sovereign nation but they will continue acting as a US/Israel lapdog like our current government.

The person who won't come out to say this will never be prime minister of Greece. End of question. Apart from how hard is for someone to pull Greece out of this alliance, the Israeli system (which helped Mitsotakis win btw) will not only help Mitsotakis again but it will fight against the person who will say "I will end the alliance". One does not break the alliance with Israel just like this.
To sum up. They played smart and well. The rebellious spirit of 2015 didn't work out well for him.

Why would anyone vote for Tsipras is beyond me, no offense.
And no Balkan nation should support Israel and its genocide.
Pink-floyd2@reddit
Same thing can be asked for the governing party but still 20% of the total population decided they should. And now we are constantly being fucked by the people that put us like this. Some people consider one of the two the leser of two evils. Some people only see tsipras as an alternatively, others only mitsotakis.

I see Kaselakis. I unronicaly think he would be a good PM.
DimGenn2@reddit
Yeah, no shit. It was unde Tsipras that cooperation with Israel really started to take off, and I commend him for it, because he put national interests above ideological issues.

Both Jews and Greeks are ancient people who suffered from religious fanatics.
I'm not well versed in how serious the Greek - Turkey situation is, but we still suffer from religious fanatics who try to kill us all while yours are "on hold" at worst.
StPauliPirate@reddit
Isn‘t Tsipras the one who cucked for Erdogan? Your basic western Islamists loving lefties
Timely-Tangerine-377@reddit
From my experience, politicians that are weak in speech won't be stronger in action. Trying to appease a nation committing genocide means they will look the other way for things concerning their own people too, if it benefits the polls.
Stalaagh@reddit
Nothing because Tsipras is going to lose badly therefore his opinion is completely irrelevant
