discovered how to make the best egg mayo sandwich of my life
Posted by Extension-Soft9877@reddit | shittyfoodporn | View on Reddit | 165 comments
6 medium eggs, a fuck ton of mayo, tinyly diced onion, some salt and a half teaspoon of polish shop mustard. The fluffy cheap white bread is a key here none of that sourdough stuff
And yes, all of that fit into only two sandwiches, no I have no caloric regrets whatsoever
RodJaneandFreddy5@reddit
Add chopped up tomatoes and it’s called a seaside sandwich where I come from.
froggothegod@reddit
I actually agree on the untoasted white bread for an egg sandwich.
kurly-bird@reddit
Shite white is the way to go for sure. It has to stick to the roof of your mouth a little bit
AntisocialDick@reddit
Next time, go with potato bread. Same effect with the roof of the mouth, but just a better bread overall.
littlebugonreddit@reddit
ABSOLUTELY!! Especially when the rest of the sandwhich is super flavorful, the bread helps dial it back a bit to let your taste buds actually enjoy it all
NickySnowflake@reddit
Sourdough too hard, the egg mayo squelches out the sides every bite.
SL13377@reddit
Try Kewpie mayo next time. You'll thank me later
schiftyquivers@reddit
tinyly
M0rgarella@reddit
Is this just an egg salad sandwich
-WilliamMButtlicker_@reddit
Tbf in the UK its called an Egg Mayo Sandwhich. We shun the word salad where possible.
M0rgarella@reddit
This from the makers of beans on toast
Alt4Norm@reddit
You ever had beans on toast, mate? Fucking delish.
Now you don’t wanna be using your weird baked beans, you want the tried and tested Great British Beans.
Slowly cook a tin of baked beans, add a bit of salt n pep. Grill some fucking bread (Think you lads call it broil) add some cheddar, grill a bit longer. Plate that slag up, add her beans then either finish with some Worcestershire Sauce or Brown Sauce (you chaps call it HP sauce)
I think the standard way is to bean the bread then add cheese and grill. But that’s messier than what I’ve just told ya.
Your bread is too sweet and so are your barbecuey beans. It just wouldn’t work.
CinemaDork@reddit
Native Americans invented baked beans. They're not weird. 🤷
Alt4Norm@reddit
What a strange comment.
Just because someone did something first doesn’t mean it’s not weird. I assume you’re using intestines for condoms then?
M0rgarella@reddit
I do love brown sauce
It reminds me a bit of shit on a shingle
Alt4Norm@reddit
Reminds you of what?
M0rgarella@reddit
Basically meat gravy on toast
TouchGraceMaidenless@reddit
You mean toast?
Bro what are you talking about?
Alt4Norm@reddit
No. You don’t want to fucking put cheese in the toaster. Are you bloody mental ya div? I meant what I said.
If you do t know what HP sauce is, you could have just googled it something. Want me to wipe yer arse for ya too fella?
S3XWITCH@reddit
I’ve had beans on toast in Australia. It was sad and not good. Maybe the British version is better but I doubt it.
Alt4Norm@reddit
I can’t comment on Australian beans as I’ve never been (bean) there. But I do know that US bread and US beans are not right for this dish.
Cryz-SFla@reddit
Aka, open face bean salad sandwich
automator3000@reddit
But if you want to make it sound less appealing, go ahead and call it an egg and mayonnaise sandwich.
AliBelle1@reddit
Just what we call it in the UK, calling it a salad when it contains none of the elements of a salad is bizarre.
Mediocre-Contest7558@reddit
So potato salad and macaroni salad doesn't exist over there ?
Liam_021996@reddit
Potato salad, yes. It is from Germany. Macaroni salad - No. Sounds vile
vyrus2021@reddit
How about fruit salad. Also you just admitted that you accept potato salad as a "salad" so you need to re-examine your position.
Mediocre-Contest7558@reddit
Lmao thank you ! I let that one go. I wanted to point it out tho lmao
Mediocre-Contest7558@reddit
I was literally just curious to if its over there of if that is what is called as well lol. Macaroni salad is just like potato but well with macaroni noodles instead lol. It's actually pretty good if made right
Liam_021996@reddit
It's called pasta, not noodles. Why do Americans call every noodles? It just looks like a unhealthy version of a pasta salad
Doesnt_fuck_fish@reddit
Mate, it really does not matter if someone from another country uses a different word than you to describe something.
Liam_021996@reddit
It matters when they claim the to speak English
Mediocre-Contest7558@reddit
It's called both lol.. regatoni, spaghetti, ramen , all noodles lol and also pasta. Why would I say "it has macaroni pasta in it" ? Just sounds weird to me because i grew up with spaghetti noodle and ramen noodles and regatoni noodles and macaroni noodles. And macaroni salad is just mayo , celery, pickle (i like it in mine anyway), noodles , mustard. People can have different words for things especially in different countries so you don't need to tell someone how they need to use a word either. Just sayin
JimmyAirbourne@reddit
Does Mac and cheese become a salad in the fridge?
brandnewbanana@reddit
No, because that’s cooked in the cheese. This is cold noodles, onions, and whatever else you want, tossed in a dressing of mayo, mustard, relish, salt and pepper. A lot of people add it to a veggie salad, but it’s also good on its own.
Mediocre-Contest7558@reddit
Idk what the hell your talking about but nobody mentioned mac and cheese lol
TheGoldenCowTV@reddit
Pasta salad is very much a thing in most of Europe and originates in Italy just so you know
Liam_021996@reddit
Yeah but not whatever the fuck that shite is
WantAllMyGarmonbozia@reddit
I wonder if anyone makes rice salad? 🤔
Mediocre-Contest7558@reddit
I don't but it's indeed a thing lmao. Usually rice , veggies, nuts and a dressing lmaooo
BlampCat@reddit
I grew up hearing it called an egg salad sandwich in NI!
wateryonions@reddit
Thinking “salad” only means “garden salad” is bizarre and hilarious. It’s literally a salad by definition lmfao
Musashi10000@reddit
The hell is a 'garden' salad?
universe_unconcerned@reddit
Leafy greens and such
Temporary-Whole3305@reddit
Salad is when drowned in mayo, you just don’t understand healthy eating over there
SailAwayMatey@reddit
What the fuck you on about saying "over there"
MF_Doomed@reddit
The US I imagine. I know we have quite a few variations of salads without any foundational salad elements
SailAwayMatey@reddit
Love the username mate.
I did somewhat assume he meant England. Gotta fight for it a bit lol. Can't be having my American cousins giving me grief without giving a bit back 😂
British humour doesn't read well also, the shit I've had over jokes today is unreal lol. Oh well, fuck you all, Im drunk, sun tanned and life is okay
drifloony@reddit
Is “over there” not a place where someone currently isn’t?
goingtoclowncollege@reddit
In central and eastern Europe many salads are mayo heavy.
7-SE7EN-7@reddit
In the UK they have salad cream, which isn't dissimilar from mayo. Not sure how often they use it as a dressing though
goingtoclowncollege@reddit
Salad cream is so weird and as a Brit I never liked it. I don't even know what it's for and would not put it in a salad but I guess people maybe do for egg mayo salads, potato salads. Or as a sauce.
cassidyconor@reddit
Russian salad entered the chat.
goingtoclowncollege@reddit
Which is called Olivier salad in former soviet union. Attributed to a french guy.
Musashi10000@reddit
I mean, I grew up just calling them 'egg sandwiches'.
TheGoldenCowTV@reddit
Exactly not a single shrimp is seen in this picture
Brought to you by swedish salads
Dude-man-guy@reddit
Nobody tell this dude about macaroni salad.
Snuzzlebuns@reddit
So, what we call a potato salad is a "potato and mayo bowl" in the UK, then?
iamjacksalteredego@reddit
Yeah but calling it exactly what it is sounds
-Ignorant_Slut-@reddit
Egg salad counts, damnit!
Intrepid-Constant-34@reddit
“A salad is a dish of mixed, usually small pieces of food, often including raw or cooked vegetables, fruits, grains, meats, or seafood. They are typically served chilled or at room temperature, often tossed with a condiment or dressing for flavor.”
YamDankies@reddit
But it is, by definition, a salad.
CatJebusPepsi@reddit
I'm on your side with this one, my go to is sweet relish.
Major_Willingness234@reddit
I omit the relish and use sliced Spanish olives. 🫒
M0rgarella@reddit
That would change the palette drastically but I am on board with a version that includes olives. Would be far more savory
Major_Willingness234@reddit
It’s so good. It’s how my mom made it, so it’s how I make it. I do use dill relish in my tuna salad, though.
Ruining_Ur_Synths@reddit
egg salad sandwich, too much mayo, but of mustard
pilsnerd11@reddit
I do onion and celery for a fresh crunch and bit of dill and lemon zest to brighten it up
kosherhalfsourpickle@reddit
I add pickle relish to mine too.
Extension-Soft9877@reddit (OP)
i guess lol, i've actuallyn ot had egg salad before, nor have i had egg salad sandwiches before until recently which opened up my palate to try make it myself
Ledzep0521@reddit
I'm weirdly for the idea of onions in my egg salad. So now you're opening the palate of others
BOMBURZ@reddit
Are u not supposed to do this 😭
Ledzep0521@reddit
The rules are, there ain't no rules
sad_handjob@reddit
horseradish or paprika would work well here, pickled onions or dare I say nutmeg
ehfrehneh@reddit
Just needs some black pepper and maybe some crispy bacon.
fartsonyourmom@reddit
Would you like some wet egg with your egg?
Sounds good and looks pretty good though. I would put a little less mayo and a little more mustard for my degenerate taste.
Practical_Art969@reddit
"She calls it a Mayonegg"
uncutpizza@reddit
drivelikedingus@reddit
As Anne as the nose on plain's face.
Mother-Valuable7568@reddit
...her?
chingostarr@reddit
Her?
packageofcrips@reddit
I don't feel so good
Thunder8277@reddit
A single teaspoon of mustard for two whole sandwiches? Could you even taste that?
No_Improvement_7241@reddit
Bruh have you ever heard of egg salad? Because that's pretty much what you just put on your sandwich disassembled.
thelingletingle@reddit
So….an egg salad sandwich
TopFun694@reddit
I always add a dash of pickle juice in the mix
S3XWITCH@reddit
That’s my moms trick too ❤️
LedVapour@reddit
This is what I did making egg salad professionally. +100 points for you friend
7AutomaticDevine7@reddit
I add a little dill relish, no celery, to mine. I'm liking this juice idea!
whodisweirdguy@reddit
I'm gonna recreate this when I have time. My mouth is watering tbh
frenchmans-hole@reddit
That looks fucking disgusting and I love egg salad sandwiches with a passion.
Extension-Soft9877@reddit (OP)
Some would even call this… shitty..
frenchmans-hole@reddit
Well I feel like a horses spitute. I didn’t realize where I was. I’ll leave now.
maezrrackham@reddit
you made the best egg mayo sandwich? wow, you should take a picture of it and post it
SkynetLurking@reddit
Any chance you used soft boiled eggs for this?
greenjellol@reddit
wouldn’t count this as shitty
Sufficient_Caramel83@reddit
Eastern European mustard is top tier ! I put it in everything
Savings_Army3073@reddit
Salad cream is best.
drivelhead@reddit
I was about to say exactly this. It's so much better than mayo!
frenchornplaya1983@reddit
You guys aren't talking about the horrible slop that is miracle whip, correct?
Ruining_Ur_Synths@reddit
imagine its ww2 in the uk. mayo is made from eggs and oil both of which are limited during the war. So instead what becomes hugely popular is an older recipe for home made 'boiled dressing' but is now commercialized.
they make mayo, but they also add in a bunch of water and vinegar, to the point where there is more water and vinegar than mayo, but because its emulsified in the mayo it sort of holds together as a more watery mayo with a vinegar flavor. Now you can make 2x as much salad cream as you could have had mayo, and sell it.
then the war ends the uk never moves on. they still think beans on toast is a meal, and they still like their watery vinegary salad cream.
frenchornplaya1983@reddit
Dear sweet Lord...... We're really not gonna make it, are we.
Ruining_Ur_Synths@reddit
when people from the uk say americans are fat, just understand that the people in the uk would be no better if there were any food there people would actually want to eat.
denvercasey@reddit
So imagine a runnier version of miracle whip. And try not to gag at that description.
zerovampire311@reddit
Like Miracle Whip and jizz, but tasty
Gauntlets28@reddit
I think it's similar, but I've never seen it around so I couldn't give you a comparison.
Ok_Tea_6598@reddit
Do you fry your onion?
Extension-Soft9877@reddit (OP)
No, I want whoever I speak to to know exactly the contents of my stomach after eating this
Cool_Ad9326@reddit
Id omit the onions for tomatoes (or soak the onions first because onion egg breath ain't my thing) and 100% use salad cream, but you absolutely got the bread right. That's a game changer
Extension-Soft9877@reddit (OP)
this is the first time ive heard of salad cream, honestly ive not seen them in shops around me but it does sound really good, its basically vinegar mayo
AdamPowers22@reddit
It’s amazingly good, like a mix of salad dressing and mayo. Perfect in a ham sandwich
Cool_Ad9326@reddit
Kinda! You've basically made it in your sandwich there. It's a lower oil content and higher vinegar content with mustard added.
the_ammar@reddit
sourdough is overrated for sandwiches.. I will not change my opinion
Sufficient_Caramel83@reddit
Totally agree. It’s fine for toast with pate, or smashed avocado, but useless as an actual sandwich. Far too dry .
DazzlingLeather1503@reddit
Egg salad
Embarrassed-Cause250@reddit
Thank you! Definitely going to try this! I have heard that Kewpi Mayo and fluffy white milk bread make a mean egg salad sandwich!
Practical-March-6989@reddit
Show us a nice picture of it then.
lilVerNi@reddit
Would
eyetracker@reddit
That's your problem, you're not supposed to use shoe polish in your mustard
TheWorldDiscarded@reddit
As I get older I feel obligated to leave out half the egg yolks, and swap half the mayo with high protein Greek yogurt.
Sometimes I'll dice some pickles up in there, or add whatever spice I happen to be craving.
Sometimes I'll use one of the various fancy mustards that are typically on rotation in my pantry as well. Horse radish mustard is an especial favourite of mine lately.
If I'm going to skip the bread, I might add some crunch via some kind of nut to the mix.
TheBestThingIEverSaw@reddit
Fart sandwiches
elevenblade@reddit
A little dill relish is good too
Yellowstone73@reddit
Is r/shittyfoodporn doing gourmet food now? Looks tasty!
SpiketheFox32@reddit
Little bit of paprika will send this. Trust me
tortoiseshellgreen@reddit
If you're already at the polish shop, get the mayonnaise 'kielecki' it's gonna level your sandwich up even further
Elipetvi@reddit
Undiscover it
uncutpizza@reddit
Timejinx@reddit
Ngl that looks good af and I'm not even a fan of egg salad
sandwizard9@reddit
looks nasty but im glad you were able to enjoy it
SailAwayMatey@reddit
Also discovered, posting this here wasn't a good idea.
Snoo_4496@reddit
Japanese mayo yum but just 2 eggs and Dijon mustard is good enough for me
yallmight2020@reddit
Looks good- your probably enjoy Japanese egg salad too- it's very simple and emphasizes the creaminess of the eggs
comatrices@reddit
There are practically infinite combinations of things you can fill a sandwich with, and you chose this...
Remarkable-Pass-2066@reddit
No pickle? Pinch of dill?
Extension-Soft9877@reddit (OP)

Timely-Cry-8366@reddit
I hate pickles and the taste of dill as well. I keep trying to make myself like them, but it never works. It sucks because they’re a great cold summer snack.
Palanki96@reddit
please get some proper bread, it doesn't have to be sourdough. that sad shit just looks and tastes like sadness
gymbaggered@reddit
Put it in a croissant
Palanki96@reddit
put what in a croissant
Western_1993@reddit

Extension-Soft9877@reddit (OP)
sometimes i eat them with some slices salted tomatos and cucumbers on the side, but i dont like putting it inside the micture, makes it a lil soggy imo
Paulyb1200@reddit
Makes it a little soggy? Bro that's the soggiest sandwich I've ever seen 🤣
jetpack2625@reddit
i like egg salad sandwiches, so delicious
Cpkrupa@reddit
Thats actually how egg salad is made in poland. Usually more mustard and onion. Sometimes sour cream instead of mayo.
Mother-Valuable7568@reddit
Not shitty. This is a nice sandwich
sLeeeeTo@reddit
what’s wrong babe you’ve barely touched your chunky vomit and cum on untoasted white bread
CpnStumpy@reddit
Wow. My go-to has always been 2 large eggs (leftover eggs go on side because it's too much for one sandwich)
Medium must be way smaller than large by leaps.
Also: toast the white bread
hppytree1313@reddit
F the haters I’d eat it
jkohlc@reddit
I hate sourdough with blade sharp crust that cuts my palate
Oodles-of-Noodles12@reddit
That’s gonna be a nah from me dawg
