Your welcome... I assume you will all have that song stuck in your head for the next three days.
milan_2_minsk@reddit
Meanwhile my dyslexic ass has always read it as Aida. Entire new soundtrack unlocked
Foolishstars@reddit
I hope you didn't fail her.
milan_2_minsk@reddit
I do believe I have

mrmadchef@reddit
I read that as Aida and my first thought was 'that's a new level of theatre kid' š
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
So you failed me?
mrmadchef@reddit
I know I've let you down
stavago@reddit
Were they born innocent?
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
Still is.
jlab23@reddit
That poor kid⦠every time she has a problem and goes to her parents she gets āAdia I do believe Iāve failed youā¦ā
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
Actually they are an amazing family. I'm so lucky my daughter found such a great guy. She deserves it, she's had it a bit rough throughout school.
Sarah_Femme@reddit
My friend's daughter Adia just had baby. Pretty sure I ordered Metamucil and tennis balls for my walker when I found out...
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
Yep. Yeah.
magsli@reddit
Actually, thank you! I love this song and happy to have it stuck in my head :) I'd also want to be friends with the parents!
Also, if anyone hasn't seen Sarah McLachlan's recent Tiny Desk, make sure you do. It's great!!

My God she still looks and sounds amazing! A that's again done right.
Also, I think my wife would have a seizure in that room from all the chaos.
TheGratitudeBot@reddit
Thanks for saying that! Gratitude makes the world go round
OldCreezy@reddit
I do believe I've failed you...
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
There's no one here to blame.
theicecreamassassin@reddit
Man I still love Sarah McLachlan.
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
How can't someone?
To me it's amazing how she was so huge and has largely disappeared from the spotlight. Seriously we all knew that song from just the name.
Sadly though my kids broke me. The other day my daughter performed in a talent show before graduating highschool. Some of the other seniors formed a pretty decent band and played an original. Then they played an excellent rendition of Heart Shaped Box. My daughter, who I have exposed to things like Hitchcock and the original Planet of Apes along with music from multiple decades, didn't know that song at all and thought it was another original from the highschool band. I had to grab the chair in front of me to avoid stumbling.
No_Flamingo9331@reddit
I saw her on her Fumbling tour this year, she did the whole album and she is as amazing as she ever was
International_Link35@reddit
Sigh. I do believe I failed her.
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
I'll leave you with your misery.
Sufficient_Turn_9209@reddit
OP "Belive me, Adia."
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
It doesn't matter.
WendyPortledge@reddit
I had to look up what you were talking about. Iām Canadian. Iāve heard the song soooo many times. I never knew she was saying āAdiaā, nor the name of that song.
SanSanSankyuTaiyosan@reddit
Right there with ya, bud.
Sweet_Deeznuts@reddit
Same here, guy
SanSanSankyuTaiyosan@reddit
We were probably so flooded with Sarah due to CanCon that her more international hits donāt really stand out.
ShirtTucker@reddit
It was huge in the US
SquirrelCone83@reddit
I think plenty of people know Working for the Weekend from the GTA Vice City soundtrack and from the SNL skit where Chris Farley auditions for Chippendales alongside Patrick Swayze. Or maybe I'm inserting my experience where it doesn't apply. Both are possible.
wino_whynot@reddit
Our favorite restaurant plays it on Friday night happy hour! We just heard it yesterday, and had to look up who sang it.
SanSanSankyuTaiyosan@reddit
Aida or Working For The Weekend? Either way, get the to add Gowanās A Criminal Mind to the rotation.
Bindlestiff34@reddit
Heās not your guy, pal.
SquirrelCone83@reddit
I also had to look it up, but it is definitely not a song I would have ever listened to for more than it takes to turn the radio station. And even if it was, my ears don't hear lyrics the way normal people do, I constantly get lyrics so wrong I stopped trying to guess what people are saying. I would have assumed she was just making a musical noise instead of saying someone's name.
EnvironmentalGift257@reddit
American here. I was today years old when I heard of this song.
ammodramussavannarum@reddit
Iām American and have no idea what this thread is about. Iām not going to google it either because I enjoy my ambient synth-based effects heavy bubble.
teapots_at_ten_paces@reddit
Confused Australian over here. I have no idea what's going on.
knosmo78@reddit
How? (Said with genuine amazement and nothing snarky.)
I liked it the first 7,000 times I heard it. Then it became a skip song.
EnvironmentalGift257@reddit
Honestly I have very eclectic musical tastes from Classical to Metal to Soul to Jazz to Hiphop. But Sarah McLachlan was pretty universally disliked where I grew up in OK and even In the Arms of an Angel didn't get much play time. I never heard of another song of hers. I listened to the first minute of this Adia song and it was an instant dislike for me.
I'm sure from your perspective it's like someone saying to me they never heard Pantera's Cemetery Gates or Guns N Roses I Used to Love Her, but I really don't like Sarah's McLachlan's voice, lyrics, or writing style in general.
knosmo78@reddit
I can respect that.
BrewCityTikiGuy@reddit
She says āAdiaā like 50 times in the song. What did you think she was saying?
WendyPortledge@reddit
I think I assumed it was ālady Iā.. I never purposefully listened to the song. I always hated it.
TragicsNFG@reddit
My welcome?
mahelious82@reddit
You just lost the game: Sarah McLachlan edition.
Acrobatic-Canary-571@reddit
Good thing Iām dumb and read it ahdia and kept scrolling

When I worked on the 2010 census, one of the supervisors in one of the other departments was named Adia. Except she pronounced it "uh-DEE-uh"
Jupitersd2017@reddit
The artist that had such a depressing song it became the soundtrack for neglected and abused animals and the founder of Lilith fair - how could you ever forget Sarah⦠Adia was a song I always skipped on her cd thoughā¦
damagetwig@reddit
I literally have not listened to that song since I watched a puppy be put to sleep to it on television.
Jupitersd2017@reddit
But i do feel ads like that helped raise the collective awareness to adopt donāt shop and to fix your animals etc etc
Jupitersd2017@reddit
Yeah I canāt listen to it either even back then haha
pawsomedogs@reddit
Do you believe you failed her?
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
Every time she says she's going to go see Adia's baby I can't help but sing Adia, I do believe I've failed you...
brainvheart143@reddit
lol.
Yeah it certainly is a⦠name.
jackfaire@reddit
Lol I do now. I had to look it up to remember. I had a boss once obsessed with her music.
trainwreckhappening@reddit (OP)
I've been racking my brain trying to remember her name for like three days. I finally looked it up but damn, it used to be that you couldn't go three minutes without hearing her name.
VaselineHabits@reddit
Maybe this was the same as I felt working with someone in their early 20s named "Tristan". My best friend growing up was obsessed with Legends of the Fall and I instantly thought, "Oh your mother must have been a fan" š
litchick@reddit
At first I wad like, oh, the Elton John musical? and then the beat dropped in my head.
