New nose for an old BA 777 @LHR

Used to seeing engine cowls in different colours...even panels around the flaps...but a whole nose? That is a new one for me. Kinda cool to see the difference in white colours between the new British Airways fleet and old.

Never ceases to amaze me how filthy BA lets all of its aeroplanes get

It is a different paint colour. The old livery was a creamy white...the new one ice white. This is an old plane and not had a full refurbishment. That is why it looks so dirty.

it could be that the front had delaminating paint or hail damage, they plan to retire the plane soon, or its queued for a full repaint but needed this section done sooner... So they only repainted the damaged portion using the cooler white they had on-hand.

White paint shade changed over time

Actually there are two different shades of BA white on the 777 for... some reason. The older paint was a creamier colour and the new paint is bright white.

How does that even work? Those panels are part of the pressurizes fuselage. Isn't grafting a new nose on an existing airplane a very complex procedure?
ExplorerAA@reddit
likely repainted due to hail damage or delamination.

No idea tbh. I assumed a repaint only.

Lame joke : this planes reg is not TBH, it’s TBE
Bon-Bon-Boo@reddit
It’s just repainted
Main_Violinist_3372@reddit
Did they give up on the repaint midway through?
Dear_Durian4088@reddit
If it was in for a repaint the whole thing would have been stripped first, you don't do it bit by bit or over the top of an existing coat.
I honestly can't fathom why it looks like it does! I can't think of a situation where they'd just paint THAT bit.
ExplorerAA@reddit
Perhaps there was some sort of damage (hail, bird strike, delamination) and the rest of the aircraft's paint was still solid.
Main_Violinist_3372@reddit
Yeah I’m struggling to see how the a/c ended up like this.
maxathier@reddit
They probably needed the plane sooner than expected, maybe another one broke down
danit0ba94@reddit
We did have a BA 777 ron here in mco for a few nights, not too long ago.
Never found out what that was for.

More like 5%way through

When you only put the sun cream on your face.
Original_Log_6002@reddit
Most likely it's a paint repair until the entire aircraft can be repainted.
DerGuteFee@reddit
Just the tip...
LCARSgfx@reddit
Probably just a partial repaint due to repair work. As far as I am aware, all new BA jets have the ice white. The older planes have the old creamy white paint.
The new ice white is apparently lighter than the cream white. Doesn't make much of a difference on something small, but on a plane it adds up.

A mask of my own face…I’d wear that

Please name and shame the body shop that did this. Their paint matching skills are horrible, that bumper should match the rest of the car.

POV: your 777 just got back from Istanbul
