Yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaah................... So we have an excuse to do nothing about it once again. What if somebody died? Do we not care about lives anymore? What if it was a kid or a mother. Or a whole family. We should at least try to get some form of air defense...
Impressive_Action_44@reddit
nahh lets go to war and get 100s of thousands killed?
Chipay@reddit
'doing nothing' and 'going to war' aren't the only options. you know. Introducing a no-fly zone from Volyn to Odesa would be sufficient to stop most drones from wandering into NATO territory.
And before some smart-ass would like to make a point: If Russian drones hitting NATO territory is not an act of war, then shooting them down mid-air isn't one either.
Azzagtot@reddit
A drone that was hit by Ukraine struck civilian building, that's unfortunate.
Destorying Russian drones over Ukraine in a no-fly zone would mean direct involvment in Russo-Ukrainian war and at best it will cause your AD sites to be targeted next.
Chipay@reddit
Is shooting down Russian drones in NATO territory direct involvement? Would NATO missiles flying over Ukraine, getting jammed, then landing on Russian territory be direct involvement?
Azzagtot@reddit
No-fly zone from Volyn to Odesa is not NATO territory.
Chipay@reddit
I understand. I'm asking whether you'd consider shooting Russian drones in NATO territory a direct involvement?
Azzagtot@reddit
No, for me it would be okay.
nem_erdekel@reddit
I mean shooting down a drone on YOUR territory shouldn't be considered as aggression. But we are fine with everything and everybody violating our airspace... I'm against war of any kind but we can't even defend our own taxpaying citizens? That's a bit retarded.

They were tracking the drone and had jets dispatched. Shooting it down over the town was too risky so they let if fall by itself. Not ideal, but nobody died so that is good.
aneq@reddit
Interception is not without risk especially if the area wasn’t closed for civilian air traffic - an interceptor missile can often do more damage than the target itself, which often did happen in the past.
If air defense command concludes that intercepting a drone will create a higher risk than letting it fly then they will not intercept and let it through.
Flayer723@reddit
What do you want to happen? Romania to declare war on Russia? NATO will not come running for this.
Trollimperator@reddit
Its eighter just hundreds or billions. There is no in between, would it come to war between NATO and Russia.
Ser_Twist@reddit
Would you prefer it if they used it as a pretense to further escalate the war?
nem_erdekel@reddit
Bombing a residential building is not escalation?
TomTomXD1234@reddit
well it was obviously not their target.

This war will continue for another 2-4 years easily. Oligarchs of both countries love the extra income and new yachts. Half of the ammo that is delivered to Ukraine is sold by them all over the world, some middle men used gps trackers to find out part of guns never made it to battlefield.
Also a lot of Ukrainian oligarchs ordered shitload of new yachts, most new Bentleys in Europe were sold in Ukraine in 2025.
Just some tough facts.
ketoprom@reddit
Writing this right after spreading the Bentley sales fake news is rich. You even managed to make it more fake than before, because the original fake news was that they had the third largest sales, not first.
lmawatt@reddit
Source to back up the "facts"
Jersey_2019@reddit
That sounds so wrong morally , how can anyone think about stealing from their country when its entire existence and future is uncertain
VicenteOlisipo@reddit
Almost certainly true, if jamming counts as "struck", which it should. Article suggests he's still holding Russia responsible and involving NATO in the response, which he should.
Enough of these cases have now happened that Europe is more than justified in extending anti-air coverage over the parts of Ukraine closest to it. Maybe even all the way to the Dnipr. If Ukraine accepts, of course.
