Hey guys! Just wanted to share this watercolor I painted a few months ago of a blue whale. Would love to hear what my fellow whale lovers think of it!

Have a closer look at the anatomy, the face is too short and the body esp the back is a bit strange but you're getting there : )

that anatomy is spot on for a humpback but definitely not a blue whale. still a sick painting though.

remember when painting whales it's a mammals so you still go head torso and then the tail is attached to the back so the musculature underneath follos that so its not just blobby shapes
this is the closest I could find in a quick search to your image from googling 'blue whale' (Google isn't good at this the AI is messing it up but this is a humpback, the actual site clarifies) but the face is longer and you can see the muscles around the belly and hips

fr that’s the best part. watercolor can get muddy fast but they actually managed to make the light look crisp. hard to pull off.
