Everyone onboard survived the Vmc demo, so it was a resounding success.

Congrats! What are you gonna do now?
qzy123@reddit (OP)
Thanks, Person-man-guy-dude! CFI, then CFII. Gotta sell my body and soul for those 1500 hours.
JewishJah69@reddit
just outta curiosity, what made ya go CMEL before CFI? i’ve had folks tell me to wait a while after CFI or even CFII before going for multi
MadeForThisOnePostt@reddit
Interesting , I was always told the chain is to get multi then cfi 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
JewishJah69@reddit
I guess either way works technically. But the reason i’ve heard for the inverse is so you can get to getting paid faster (that’s assuming you can get a CFI job in this market 😬)
qzy123@reddit (OP)
I think another good reason is so you have multi proficiency when you head to an airline job. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to get some multi time between now and then, but the bulk of my multi hours will be way in the past by the time I hit 1500.
DimiGod217@reddit
As someone who did CMEL then my CFI/II/MEI.
Honestly it was just to shake things up for me personally. I already worked enough and saved enough to garuntee reasonable funding (thrkugh savings) for all the following ratings, so long as i didnt go crazy over budget on any.
The ending of COM got really mentally tiring on me and I was losing the love, so I went CMEL to bring some spice back into it all. It definitely helped re-invigourate me too, so I was successful in that venture. Which I definitely needed going into CFI
JewishJah69@reddit
Sounds awesome honestly. I’d probably do the same in your spot honestly, and yeah i feel you. CPL felt like climbing everest, first time i’d driven myself mad over flying instead of loving every second.
$55k deep through CPL though, funds don’t last forever and I have to make the choice to go CFI which i’m fine with. Learning to teach has actually been a blast, jumping into grounds with the CFIs at my school and whatnot

That’s such a bummer. Commercial was my favorite, really learning to fly the plane, not just drive the plane. However, I wasn’t paying by the hour like you were (like I was during PPL). Just plunged into a huge private loan for future me to deal with.
Timely_Entrance_7931@reddit
I did a loan as well. It hurt a little after the fact, but getting a rating without large breaks is so important in my opinion. You can soak it all in without having to review after a month off.
Person-man-guy-dude@reddit
I have the same question
qzy123@reddit (OP)
Answered above.
qzy123@reddit (OP)
I’m at a part 141 school, that’s the path. Did PPL part 61, then committed to the pilot academy run by the airline I worked for as a mechanic.
zarmril@reddit
Did they teach you to turn off one engine in cruise to save gas?
qzy123@reddit (OP)
No… in DA42 we have OEI climb performance, so we turn it off 400 AGL for maximum fuel economy.
Big-Carpenter7921@reddit
Now you can fly a multi and use both engines
qzy123@reddit (OP)
Whew, finally.
