What’s the largest city/town/settlement in the UK without a single greggs location?

Just a wild thought that crossed my mind, I can’t think of a single town, let alone city that I have been to in the UK without a Greggs. I know that Campbeltown in Scotland doesn’t have one, however that is only a small, remote town with less than 5K people, so it doesn’t really count.
Would love to hear your thoughts!!

As far as I know there are no Greggs on the Isle of Wight (140,000 population).

The local magician is called greg
Sufficient-Eye-3132@reddit
Surely it’s David
londonflare@reddit
Was just about to say this. Biggest towns are Newport and Ryde with populations of 25,000
Defiant-Tackle-0728@reddit
Until relatively recently there were no Greggs at all in Northern Ireland.
dmmjrb@reddit
So Newry might be the largest (only?) UK city which doesn't have a Greggs?
Defiant-Tackle-0728@reddit
Armagh (pop. 18,000) is a city without too.
Lisburn got a branch about a year ago, Lisburn city itself has a pop of 51,000
Veegermind@reddit
The Isle of Wight.
marktuk@reddit
Wait, is it actually?
Veegermind@reddit
No Greggs here.
marktuk@reddit
Can you "deliveroo" one from the mainland?
Veegermind@reddit
Doubt it.
Curious_Orange8592@reddit
Leicester city centre has 4 which means it doesn't have a single Greggs
AcceptableCustomer89@reddit
Anywhere in Cornwall. So biggest? I guess Newquay or St Austell?
LemmysCodPiece@reddit
There is a Greggs in Newquay, Truro, Bodmin and Cornwall Services on the A30 at Victoria.
AcceptableCustomer89@reddit
If you're going to use Google, then at least get the one in Saltash too
LemmysCodPiece@reddit
I didn't use Google I have been to all of them. I have never been to one in Saltash. TBH I doubt I have been through Saltash in 20 years. If I go to Plymouth I go via Torpoint.
Johnny_Vernacular@reddit
There's five in Cornwall
kernowgringo@reddit
Newquay has one, there's a few others in Cornwall now too, they don't sell pasties
Feeling-Bluebird8413@reddit
Do they sell pasties anywhere?
kernowgringo@reddit
I thought they did as I'd heard that when they opened their first store in Cornwall down in Saltash that they tried to sell them but nobody bought them, that site did shut down for a while. Anyway, a quick search tells me that Greggs actually discontinued their pasty back in the covid years
Feeling-Bluebird8413@reddit
I’m in Manchester and I don’t remember them ever selling them. I’m not saying they didn’t though or that the menu doesn’t vary between locations.
kernowgringo@reddit

They look vile
Feeling-Bluebird8413@reddit
That’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen
dprophet32@reddit
They would be burnt down within a week if they tried
msac84@reddit
We have one in Truro!
rossburton@reddit
WHAT. That is a disgrace. I move out and look what happens.
BadMacaroniArt@reddit
It’s on the outskirts but there’s now a Greggs in Newquay
SunshineMissLittle@reddit
No Greggs in my town. Population is 32,000
swaythling@reddit
In terms of actual towns I believe it could be Southport (c. 90k pop).
KeepOnTrippinOn@reddit
Yeah the one on lord street shut a good few years ago, they seem to prefer a pound bakery there. Interestingly Preston only about 15 miles away has more Greggs than you can shake a stick at.
kernowgringo@reddit
Has it been built yet?
https://standupforsouthport.com/greggs-to-bake-new-life-into-large-southport-site-which-has-needed-filling-for-a-decade/
abfgern_@reddit
Biggest I've found based on Google maps is Southport in Merseyside at 94000 although i foind an article from March 2026 saying one is going to open soon
tobotic@reddit
They apparently used to have one but it closed down in 2015.
TheRealJustSean@reddit
Somewhere down south where they have pret instead.
Ennochie@reddit
The Greggs in Amersham closed last year!
Tollowarn@reddit
Up until a couple of years ago there weren't any in Cornwall.
Even_Jello_624@reddit
Down here in Penzance. I think the nearest is Truro? But only a very small handful in Cornwall. Don't know why they bothered given the local competition. Possibly to appease the tourists? Although I've never even eaten a Greggs so I could be missing out!
liluniqueme@reddit
You're not. They fill a hole. They used to be cheap but now they've been caught by enshitification.
wardyms@reddit
Ely. Technically doesn’t have one. There’s one in a petrol station a few miles north of the city off an A road.
MahatmaAndhi@reddit
Oakham doesn't have a Greggs and so I don't think there's one in the entire county of Rutland.
BountyBobIsBack@reddit
Not a Greggs in Faversham, Kent
dawson821@reddit
There is no Greggs branch at all anywhere on the Isle of Wight.
MaterialSituation325@reddit
Newtownards
MaterialSituation325@reddit
There’s nearly 30,000 people here.
Either-Connection775@reddit
We’ve only just recently got a small one attached to a Morrisons petrol station here in Stamford lincs 🤷🏻♂️. It’s shit too.
