These Cars, Trucks, SUVs, and Vans Are Dead for 2027

Which car on this list will you mourn the most? For me, it's probably the CT4. I guess GM had to make room for the new Buick sedan.
Kavani18@reddit
Ford discontinuing the Escape was a big surprise to me. The Escape used to outsell the CR-V in the early 10s

Genuinely what does Acura have left lmao, like 2/3 cars?? That has to be the least available I’ve ever seen, nasty work 😭😭😭
the_old_coday182@reddit
More than Jaguar
Trades46@reddit
Honda is not exactly in good financial state right now due to their huge writeoffs on their stillborn EV plans.
Acura definitely is being put on the backburner. I'm getting the same vibes as Infiniti for the past few years now.
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
The mdx is the whole brand at this point heh
jakeuten@reddit
I see more MDX than all of the others combined in northern MN. Not surprising, I suppose.
SnowDucks1985@reddit
True, wow now Lexus and Acura sucks and one of those were going to be my next car in the next few years…guess I’m on my way to Beamers now lol
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
Ive been extremely happy with mine. Would definitely recommend if its what youre wanting out of a vehicle.
SnowDucks1985@reddit
That’s awesome, happy for you! Yea I can’t do boring for my next car, I need fun and not a teslafied-car. BMW’s the only one doing fun and decently reliable at the same time it seems
DeCzar@reddit
Adx mdx and integra. rip
SnowDucks1985@reddit
Damn no TLX either, yea def rip lol
itsamemarioscousin@reddit
It's the lack of the RDX that'll really hurt them. Killed the 27MY EV one before fully unveiling it, and the hybrid is a couple years away. Having no 2 row compact-mid sized SUV is trouble.
Stoned_Nerd@reddit
TF is a BrightDrop
007meow@reddit
What is even going on with Acura product management
The RDX and MDX are their bread and butter.
The MDX is stale af and they’re taking a year long break with the RDX.
Insane. Why not just keep the RDX active until they have its replacement ready?
JMS1991@reddit
They did the same thing with the MDX. There was no 2021 model year, and it came back in 22 with the new body style.
Mediocre-Net-1984@reddit
They decided to end production on the RDX because it was supposed to be replaced by their new electric SUV. And by the time they cancelled that model it was too late to restart production on the RDX. Acura put too many eggs in the electrification basket and got fucked.
TurkeyBLTSandwich@reddit
Honda realized too late or hopefully early. That full evs arent the way and hybrids are actually the best way forward. Heck EREVs are probably the next best thing.
Toyota is firmly in first when it comes to hybrids and BMW and my guess Nissan are in prime position for EREV dominance.
Like all Honda had to do was to toss the CR-V hybrid into the Acura RDX and Acura Integra and BAM best sellers. Instead no refresh no updates on the RDX. Not sure what Honda or Acura are thinking.
Also Lexus ES as the flagship Lexus sedan? Wtf
Csharp27@reddit
The RS7 is a tough one. A lot of those are but damn that’s been one of my dream cars for a decade now.
MangoAtrocity@reddit
RDX is a bummer. Fantastic semi-premium option for the money. I’m also absolutely gutted by the loss of the Z4 and 8 Series. Might have to grab a 2025 840i GC next year to replace my 440i GC.
UmaThurmish@reddit
I wish the LC500 stayed for a few more years. that's pretty much it for non-american non hybrid V8s no?.
abravenoob@reddit
Mercedes AMG GT and SL have the 4.0L V8 for $135-145k
Land Rover Defender 90 gets the 5.0L V8 for $115k if that counts, I mean it does only have two doors lol
IGuessSomeLikeItHot@reddit
Isn't the ID.4 continuing just under a different name?
SamsungAppleOnePlus@reddit
Losing the Escape sucks a lot and by extension the Corsair, since I’ve heard great experiences with those too. I really hope they can get a hybrid Bronco Sport out quick, the Escape hybrids were great cars and the Maverick is the only one with the hybrid powertrain now. Not everyone wants a truck.
A weird niche that the Escape hybrid filled was being a flat-towable RV travel car, which is why my family got one. One of the only hybrid crossovers that could. The Bronco Sport isn’t flat towable! (the real Bronco is). Weirdly the Corsair plug-in hybrids were corrected to not be flat towable even though the manuals said it was possible up until 2025, but the 2026 Escape still was. It’s hard shopping for that niche since you have barely any options that don’t guzzle gas. From the top of my head the Maverick hybrid and Lincoln Nautilus hybrid would be the main flat towable options in the Ford lineup now.
hells_cowbells@reddit
I don't know much about this stuff so what makes the Escape hybrid flat towable vs others in the class? Is Ford doing something different with it? I've liked at the Escape or Bronco Sport as a replacement for my Fusion, but I'm wary given Ford's reliability in recent years. The hybrid models are usually pretty solid, though.
SamsungAppleOnePlus@reddit
Honestly no idea, guessing in the case of hybrids with eCVTs it has to be specifically designed to be able to completely “disconnect” from the wheels in a neutral tow mode.
ThiefofNobility@reddit
I'm shocked Acura is dropping the RDX. I feel like I see them everywhere.
highlord_fox@reddit
What does that leave Tesla with, the 3, Y, and Cybertruck? And whatever their weird Total Recall taxi is?
birdseye-maple@reddit
Lexus heartbreaker... LC and LS are my 2 favorite models of theirs
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
The new ES and IS are also disappointing, Lexus now only cares SUV buyers now.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Going to miss the iX the most out of all of these odly, couldn't catch me saying that when it launched but its grown on me quite a bit. Still not in styling, but the rest of it is best in class by some margin
Z4 too, CT4 in BW trim, F-Pace SVR was a bit of a steal for quite a while, rest I don't think I'm going to miss *that* much
Like the LC500, Model S/X, LS, Supra, all neat cars, all feats of engineering, but they were all around for long enough that anyone would wanted to grab one could, & they made enough that anyone who couldn't will be able to grab one down the line
mortgageletdown@reddit
Doesn't Ford sell a pile of Escapes? And Acura RDXs are super common where I am?
Puffin77@reddit
I’m upset at the loss of the Lexus LC. That seems like one of those timeless designs they could have sold for decades. Think Jaguar XJS, Porsche 911, or Mercedes SL
MortimerDongle@reddit
Its beautiful but it sold fairly terribly, so not too surprising
piddydb@reddit
It seems to do what it’s supposed to do really well, luxury grand touring. The problem is that market is extremely small, has been shrinking, and has a portion of its buyers who would never consider a Lexus because they perceive the brand as not premium/established enough (they’re buying Bentleys, Rolls, maybe Mercedes and BMWs).
It’s a shame this car is dying, I’d buy one right now if I could afford it. But it certainly makes sense why it’s dying.
Some_Conference2091@reddit
if I could afford it...
me too. the problem is that not a lot of people can buy $100k cars.
piddydb@reddit
True but for what the car is, it isn’t that overpriced for it. Like I said, those other brands can crack it but Lexus will always have a bit of an uphill climb compared to them since their legacy only goes back to the 90s and some buyers will consider them just a luxed up Toyota.
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
Classic forum car that is beloved but no one buys
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
GRGT is coming, it's LC replacement despite without Lexus badge.
mustangfan12@reddit
Sadly it just couldn't sell well, despite being a good design it just costed too much for sports car buyers
UmaThurmish@reddit
Toyota trying to make their sports cars go upmarket by putting a Lexus logo on them has done nothing but miserably fail. it makes no sense what so ever
the people that the LC500 is aimed for(based on the lexus brand, and the luxury interior, exterior, and overall design) are not the same people that want that engine and handling.
like seriously, what was an actual commercially successful Lexus sports car?.
happy_2_c_u@reddit
The LC is one of the most beautiful new cars I (occasionally) see on the road.
FiddlerOnThePotato@reddit
I feel kinda surprised they're axing the Brightdrop, I figured they'd sell well. Maybe there's something on the economic side I'm not following.
Some_Conference2091@reddit
I thought they dropped it a while ago because no one was buying. I've only seen one in real life. I like them, but apparently not many agree with me.
FiddlerOnThePotato@reddit
A custom van Brightdrop would be rad. Not the absolute most practical rig for camping but I'm sure with some planning it could be done. And if you have decent enough access to a charger, you could afford to use the batteries for some accessories which would be nice. No generator needed for basics like light and small personal devices and stuff.
Some_Conference2091@reddit
There are a lot of parks and chargers near me
etingwall@reddit
They are cool, but prices were silly and GM never landed the big order from a FedEx/Amazon/UPS.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
They too relied in incentives. Now, these EV incentives are now gone, it made sense these deliver companies stop buying their van.
Kamukix@reddit
I hadn't heard of that until today, but it's very cool. I wonder if they will make a replacement.
markeydarkey2@reddit
Like with many things GM was a bit too early to market at the scale they planned for it.
UnkleAdams247@reddit
Just came to market at the worst possible time I think.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
2022?
narwhal_breeder@reddit
They only sold 2,200 of them over 3 years. GM said they are discontinuing it due to lower than expected demand.
nigevellie@reddit
So. . . Does that mean you'll be able to buy them for cheap?
Roboticpoultry@reddit
Wait they were still making the 8 series? I thought that was axed years ago
narwhal_breeder@reddit
They announced 1 year ago that the 8 series wouldn't get a successor - and only the M8 was ending production immediately then due to low sales.
ryanleebmw@reddit
One of the only newer BMWs with an attractive normal sized grille. I don’t even know if they sell any model with a normal or good looking kidney style grill anymore.
Are you happy BMW drivers? With your giant ass fucking grilles stretching from ground to hood?
hutacars@reddit
Sales say they are.
ryanleebmw@reddit
I could care less about their sales, or their demographic that they cater to more than previous owners or long time enthusiasts.
The world will always have people paying too much for a product that is unattractive or a terrible financial decision to a large majority of other buyers.
phlegyas78@reddit
Volvo ex30 being available for 1.5 yrs is wild
hutacars@reddit
It was a shockingly bad car. Which was really too bad, I was very excited about the dual motor (closest thing we get to an EV hot hatch in the US) until I drove it. As is too often the case these days, the software was the main let down. But there were some head-scratcher hardware choices too (e.g. the atrocious seat controls) which didn’t help things.
rekniht01@reddit
Volvo has had a hard time managing the dynamic US tariff situation.
BearGoy@reddit
8 series, Z4, CT4, Supra, V90. All tragic departures. Cars and sports cars are still suffering heavy casualties in the CUV onslaught. When will this end..!?
xXxDickBonerz69xXx@reddit
It's not even just that.
Its that the middle class is dying. K shaped economy and all that.
For the last couple years there have been more 2 door sports cars >$100k than <$100k.
If someone can afford the cars you listed, they can afford something significantly faster, nicer, and more expensive.
It hits sports cars especially hard, since they're usually second cars.
muchgreaterthanG_O_D@reddit
I didn't know the z4 was still a thing...
Astramael@reddit
Some cool stuff getting killed. Z4, CT4, Supra. Sad days.
WinterWick@reddit
VW ID4 surprises me. I'm assuming they'll still have an electric crossover though? Maybe a Tiguan or something.
Simon_787@reddit
I'm guessing the US is just not getting the MEB+ upgrade until they give it a more comprehensive facelift and interior upgrade.
PNF2187@reddit
Reportedly it's moreso on a brief hiatus. Rumblings are it'll come back fairly soon as the ID.Tiguan, so it's more of a rebranding if anything.
Murky_Kiwi@reddit
Add the BMW i4 to the list.
Supermclucky@reddit
Jaguar hasn't been a thing since 2024.
