Are conspiracies regarding chemtrails on the increase among people?

Lately I am seeing an influx of people on social media convinced the government are spraying us with chemicals. The icing on the cake was a post I just read about dust being left all over cars on the street when a plane flew over. I know cloud seeding is a thing but seems a large portion of society are convinced it's something more sinister. Does anyone here believe this is the case? if so, why? It would take everyone involved to never utter a word which just isn't realistic. Anyone else in the same boat seeing a rise in this theory?

I know people that know the moon landing was faked because they can't understand that space has no drag. Because planes need to refuel to get to Australia therefore how do they get to the moon.

One I ran into on social media was convinced it was fake because the President spoke to them on the moon via telephone and how could that possibly have happened, there aren't any telephone lines on the moon! I just can't with these people.

Yes I was told at work the other day seriously that the UK government is spending more and more money on weather control and are planning to block the sun to the UK (just the UK). I blame 14 years of education cuts and the enyankification of the country.

I do reject the chemtrail conspiracy, but please know that western govts have purposely spread toxic chemicals into the air with the purpose of it infecting people in the name of research. The idea that they suggest has actually happened in the past I have receipts. Again, not saying I believe this is happening, but considering some govts use of things like mk ultra, I wouldn't put them past doing anything.
