The one closest to your house. For me I-35
CH11DW@reddit
East or west?
Emotional-Loss-9852@reddit
It’s only East and West in DFW and MSP
Realk314@reddit
are we still talking about 35? that's north and south.
CH11DW@reddit
Yes but in Dallas Fort Worth (and Minneapolis and st.Paul) it splits into two. 35W and 35E.
Realk314@reddit
It does the same in DFW but 35 E goes north and south. On the Dallas side.. 35 W goes north and south on the Fort worth side. Unless your split is different and i'm not understanding. After you get far enough north or south out of DFW they merge back into one that also goes north and south.
CH11DW@reddit
Somehow you misunderstood me. Not sure how. I guess you thought of me referring to them as 35w and 35e, I was saying they ran in those directions?
Realk314@reddit
No i understood you, just not Emotional-loss.
Emotional-Loss-9852@reddit
I35 splits into I-35 W and I35 E in Hillsboro TX, goes through both Fort Worth, and Dallas, and comes back together in Denton, TX. It does the same thing in the Minneapolis-St Paul area.
Appropriate_Lynx4119@reddit
It’s kinda weird that of all the N-S interstates in the country, only one splits into East and West variants somewhere along its route, and this one interstate tee does so twice in entirely different places.
derSchwamm11@reddit
I joke that the real dividing line between the eastern and western US is I-35 and not the Mississippi. Therefore since I grew up between I-35W and I-35E I am from the central US
spunkyenigma@reddit
Cursed be it’s name!

GrimSpirit42@reddit
I live less than a mile from I-65, at the point where it is 10 miles from its Southern terminus at I-10.
United_Reply_2558@reddit
Im also less than a mile from I-65.....at its widest point, near the UPS Worldport in Louisville.
No-Profession422@reddit
Life stuff: mainly I-15 or I-215 north or south. East/west it's SR 60/91 or I-10.
Work: no interstate, unless it's because of a detour.
PNW_OlLady_2025@reddit
There's zero need to get on a highway regularly for anything I do. I avoid them as much as possible to be honest. The ones I have around me are I5 and I84 though.
United_Reply_2558@reddit
I-65

Although not formally designated interstate, US Highway 101 is the only highway in San Luis Obispo County that crosses into another state (Oregon). Highway 101 is also the only highway I use on a regular basis.

AFAIK 17 and 10 are the only ones in the Phoenix area, though route 60 also crosses it. I guess I'd say 17 and 60. When I lived on the east coast it was 93 or 95

hypo-osmotic@reddit
A tie between I-90 and I-35, depending on which direction I’m going. I don’t have to take any interstate every day, though, so these are just for semi-frequent trips
BrainFartTheFirst@reddit
Mostly the i-5. There's also the 134 but that's a state route.
Aggressive-Emu5358@reddit
Well it’s a very large country and there are many. I take I-25

There is no one interstate that passes through every state. Not even close. People are going to use their local interstate, hwy, or local roads. Keep in mind that local highways and roads can still easily take an hour depending on traffic and lights.
pokeyt@reddit
Growing up I lived in a town with no actual interstate so I’d go months without being on an actual interstate.
Today I live just off i90 and travel on it at least 6 days a week.
mburucuja@reddit
94 and 43 go through my city. 90, 39, and 41 are also in my state.

I80 3/4 days a week. About 20 miles each way for work.
I avoid slabs when I can. I'll take surface streets and coat myself an extra 10 minutes most of the time. If I can.
gigisnappooh@reddit

ALoungerAtTheClubs@reddit
Locally, it's almost exclusively I-95. I'll be on I-10 for like 60 seconds sometimes cutting over to a different road.
ExternalTelevision75@reddit
I do not use an interstate daily, the closest interstate to my home is about 45 mins drive away
Angel89411@reddit
30 minutes here. We usually just use a Hwy or local streets.

Interstates run north-south (even numbers) and east-west (odd numbers) all across the country. We all have 2-4 that are nearest to us (an even number, and odd number, and sometimes another 1-2 running either direction). Those are going to be the most locally traveled in that area.
CUBuffs1992@reddit
I-70 and I-25.

Interstate 75 is closest to my house. Interstate 24 is the only one I have driven the entire distance on

Grew up in Seattle. The only ones there are I-5 and I-90. Lived in LA for a bit and there are a bunch of interstates (wasn’t sure the exact number but after looking it up it’s 7), where they play a much bigger role in just getting between neighborhoods than in probably any other city. Now live in New York City. Couldn’t even tell you what interstates are here because I just ride the subway.
LinuxLinus@reddit
Over here we have 82. It can get you to Seattle, but if you go the other way . . . you don't want to go the other way.
BlueDemeter@reddit
Yep, I-90 and I-5 here as well.
texasrigger@reddit
Im on a relatively short section of I37 daily but as a rule try to avoid the interstates. I much prefer state highways.
Major_Barnacle_2212@reddit
I-5, California’s artery
CarnegieHill@reddit
I don’t. I live in NYC and I can take the subway, bus, and commuter rail to get to wherever I need to go.
backlikeclap@reddit
None, I don't have a car.
spicyredacted@reddit
I don't really use the highway if I can help it. Usually 45 or the 610 loop. I'm in Houston Texas.

In Toledo, everything is based around I75. We even have our own tributaries, I475 and I280 to supplement our sprawl. As long as you live near the highway, nothing is more than 20 minutes away
thingsbetw1xt@reddit
I spend most of my drive on I-97.
