Mechanic hit my car. What is should I do?

Basically took my fiancee car to the dealership. We have dash cam footage of them hitting a car with our car when moving it into the bay. Fiancee call me when she got the notification. They called a few seconds later and didn't mention it at all, just said the car was ready for pick up. So that leads me to two conclusions
-
They are hoping we dont see the damage.
-
The damage is not noticeable on my car. The car they hit is smaller and definitely has a dent. But mines is a bit larger so it my not. I will have to see when I pick up the car.
In either case what is the best course of action?

I would email the footage to the service manager and ask them to call me
adjusterjackc@reddit
Nope, nope, nope. Confront the Service Manager at the dealership and show the video. Face to face with those people makes it harder for them to sneak away.
djltoronto@reddit
Only if there's any noticeable damage!
If there is no noticeable damage, then what are we even talking about?
Altruistic_Profile96@reddit
Damage doesn’t need to be visible.
djltoronto@reddit
From the sounds of it, there is no damage whatsoever, either visible or invisible
adjusterjackc@reddit
Right. If there is damage, confront the manager.

If you have footage, your insurance will hound them.

Zero chance I'd risk having my rates jacked up over something so minor, especially if I have video proof in hand.
TellemTom@reddit
You’re literally not at fault in the slightest in that situation. Stop sucking their dick.

the repair shop at a car dealer almost certainly has a liability insurance policy. OP can certainly request that their insurance talk to the shop's insurance provider. this is only worth it if there is some actual damage to get repaired.
N47881@reddit
The last store I was a service director for had a $50k liability deductible. Not sure if that's standard or not.
uyuyuyuyui@reddit
So what?
N47881@reddit
IYKYK
djltoronto@reddit
So the repair shop certainly would not tap into their liability insurance when the deductible is that high.

I think most shops expect a basic level of accountability and responsibility from employees. If it's this shop, the Service Manager should know who's who on their team.

I love my dashcams and I always recommend others get them.
Good luck op! You have plenty of food advice already.
Unfair-Tell2719@reddit
I would ask to speak to a supervisor and mention your dashcam caught the mechanic hitting another car and see what their response is. This accident is on them and you want to cover your bases in case they caused more damage to your car than you realized. Have it documented. Cars have so many sensors on them and even a very minor accident could cause issues with sensors that control airbag deploying in a severe accident. Plus you want the other cars damage fixed by the dealer.
bhalter80@reddit
The other car's damage isn't any concern of Op that's a matter between that owner and the dealer
Gunk_Olgidar@reddit
or 3. Dealership Service MGR doesn't know yet because their tech didn't tell them.
Call the dealer and tell them the car was hit by their employee and you have the dashcam footage for them to review when you come in.
naterpotater246@reddit
I would speak to the service manager. If there's damage, the dealership needs to fix it.
APGaming_reddit@reddit
either way it should be documented on the invoice at the very least. OP has a video too which is good in case theres an issue later.
adjusterjackc@reddit
What do YOU think is the best course of action?
LindseyLowHand@reddit
First mistake was taking it to the dealership lol
Solomon_knows@reddit
So, you’re saying you know more than the dealer does about your accident and instead of asking them about it, you ask Reddit?
Any-Introduction4473@reddit
You all ready know what kind of people you are dealing with I would contact the police and have them meet you at the mechanics . They can fill a police report while you’re there . They also can be ticket for not reporting it to the police but also to the owner of the car.

jrileyy229@reddit
If it were me, I'd give them a little rope to hang themselves first.
"Any problems with the car?" -Nope. "Oh, what about the other car?" -What do you mean? "The other car you bonged my car into..."
Also, you need to check your state laws. Recording video is allowed, but many states require two way consent to record audio... If you recorded both, I have no idea how that legally plays out... Not a lawyer.
But it's not going to get that far, let them know you know, go look at the car with the service manager, and be reasonable about it. Get something in email acknowledging it happened and if any sensors or anything aren't working, they will sort it out. If the car needs a little paint work, they'll handle it
New-Position-3845@reddit
This is more of a law and legal question than an actual car question. Take it up with your repair contact and applicable municipality.
bobqzzi@reddit
Does your car have adas sensors? That's what I would be most worried about.
I wouldn't say anything until you've inspected it, but before you leave you should tell them you know about the accident and will hold them responsible if there is any damage
Effective-Addition-3@reddit
I would probably go in person and see if they tell you
