Funding the training

I’m sure a topic raised countless times here. I’m new to this sub. As a 42 year old, I’ve decided I want to pursue the dream as if I don’t I know I’ll regret it. I’ve been researching the various funding options leading to a commercial pilot’s licence and am aware of the competitiveness of fully funded courses and also of the companies that offer loans for example Lendwise. Does anyone have any advice in general around this, in particular for someone who would need to also fund cost of living to help support family at the same time? Thank you for your time.

You're 42 years old and still haven't figured out how money works, yet?

Additionally, the fact that you have used the words ‘still’ and ‘yet’ in the same sentence which in this context essentially mean the same thing, detracts from the impact at your attempt at humour, as it suggests a poor grasp of language and by association, a low intellect. Probably not your fault though bless you.

Not a problem at all. I’ve worked in employment law for 20 years so I can handle that lol

Early on in my training, I had a CFI ask me if I was “fucking retarded” hahaha…. Just saying.

Thanks for your helpful response

At 42 in this market no-one is going to pay for your training, and you will unlikely make back the value of it given the length of the career available to you once you complete training. You'll need to spend a few years making nothing as a CFI, then a few more making almost nothing as a FO at a regional. During that time you'll need to work when and where ever you're told, without regard for the needs of your family.
If you cannot afford to take the money you'd spend training, put it in a big pile on the floor, and light it on fire, then do not spend it becoming a pilot.
