Living abroad: has visiting local museums helped you feel connected, or left you feeling like an outsider?

I’ve noticed something strange while traveling:
People visit places like the Louvre because they feel they should… but many leave remembering almost nothing emotionally.
Meanwhile, a tiny random museum or gallery sometimes becomes unforgettable.
Why do you think that happens?
Curious to hear your experiences.

Not to be insanely cynical, but are these just AI prompts? Or someone hoping to get fodder for an article or a blog post or something?

I seriously don’t understand the goal of half of the dead internet these days…

Though obviously well known, the Louvre is currently in crisis mode. Too many visitors, underpaid and overwhelmed staff. Yet at places like the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna or the Neues Museum in Berlin, you can spend hours exploring masterpieces of artwork without feeling overwhelmed by the crunch of tourists.
