Ford Freestyle Titanium infotainment upgrade suggestions needed (FlyAudio → Android Auto)?

Ford Freestyle Titanium owner here. My car currently has the stock FlyAudio infotainment system, and honestly it feels quite outdated now. No Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support, and the built-in navigation/software hasn’t really aged well.
I’m planning to upgrade the infotainment setup and looking for suggestions from people who’ve already done it on the Freestyle/Figo/Aspire platform.
A few things I’m specifically looking for:
- Not interested in the cheap generic Android head units
- Prefer something from Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, or JVC
- Good audio quality/output is a priority
- Smooth Android Auto experience
- Retaining steering controls/reverse camera would be nice
At the same time, I’m also curious whether there’s any way to modernize or convert the existing FlyAudio system itself into something Android-based instead of fully replacing it.
Would love to know:
- Which setup are you using?
- Approx cost
- Any frame/coupler/canbus issues?
- Did audio quality improve noticeably?
- Any regrets or things to avoid?
Thanks in advance!

Contact Crutchfield. Their website is great. and so are their people on the phone. They will be able to tell you what you need, and they will have all the bits to put it all together. They also have great technical support if you need it.
I dor work for them, and they don't pay me in any way. I just use the when I do car audio stuff.

It's not the cheapest place to buy car audio gear, but their value is in their information, service, and support. If it can be done in your car, they will know how.
