as opposed to all the legacy stuff being removed recently 🤨Â

Bus Mouse is an obvious thing to remove from Linux. In order for a Bus Mouse driver to be useful, you need a PC that is capable of running a recent Linux kernel, has ISA slots, and does not have a PS/2 mouse port, USB port, or Serial port.
Meanwhile, there was also that obscure speech synthesis ISA card, it turned out that there was already a second driver that supported that card, so they took out the redundant driver.

Oh yeah, poor intel 80486 not being able to run Linux now :(

But people still use it, what is being removed almost no one uses it anymore.

Difference is this hardware is actually still useful.

Yeah, Thinkpad X220 and T420 is still used by a lot people.

it’s pretty impressive how long Linux keeps supporting older hardware generations Sandy Bridge launched back in 2011and there are still active graphics fixes landing over a decade later

Yeah, I totally get what's going on here. Intel Sandy Bridge was a great run for its time, but yeah, those graphics drivers can be a real pain to deal with nowadays. I mean, I still use an old ThinkPad X220 myself, and when you're trying to get some work done, the last thing you want is your graphics driver crashing every 5 minutes
