In honour of history & the fall of the last Roman emperor 573 years ago today: A popular Greek song poetically tells of Constantinople's fall & his mythical return as the 'Marble Emperor'. Is there a similar legendary song telling of a major historical event, myth & folklore from your nation?

In Bulgaria we have a song about the war between Tzar Simeon and Roman of Byzantium. It depicts the mighty Simeon winning over a trembling Roman. Overly patriotic.

Do you really think, 1453 was worse than 1204 for Orthodoxes?
Starfalloss@reddit (OP)
Two wrongs don’t make a right both were bad for Greeks.

No, there isn't. Only Greeks and Greece have mighty legendary songs for mighty legendary heroes, that were of Greek heritage and stock, no doubt about that.
Starfalloss@reddit (OP)
I don’t believe that which is why I’m asking lol I’d like to hear and know about important songs from the region it’s pretty cool.

Well yes, the sleeping king is not an uncommon motiff in European art.
Our equivalent is of course Kraljević Marko, but the exploits and characters in the songs about him are almost completely fictional.

It is a Serbian World War I song about the painful retreat of the Serbian army on foot across Albania and mountain passes, followed by their exile on the island of Corfu.
