I’m 18 years old I have my temps but I’ve never driven, I want to buy my own used car mainly a reliable sedan of some sort to help with gas mileage and I’ve recently saved up 1000 dollars toward it. I have no clue what’s a good price to buy a used car since Facebook marketplace has a bunch of junk I’ve also thought about getting a car note I’m currently trying to figure out a game plan for savings especially since my boyfriend has to drive 40 minutes to work most of the week I would like my car to withstand that type of usage I make 16.50 usd with a minimum of 40 hours in a biweekly pay period. Thank you to whoever see this.

How do you get to 18 years old without ever learning basic punctuation?

You’d for sure want to shoot for a Toyota Corolla or a Honda civic situation
These cars have continuously proven their worth over the past couple decades.
Even if they did malfunction Repair is way easier and feasible.
I would almost stay away from Facebook marketplace because a good chunk of cars on there are people getting rid of their junk for a high price tag. If it’s too good to be true, don’t do it.
Also I am thinking of this reply as a father myself, I have to tell you that you something you need to hear. You want something to withstand 40 minute commute( 80 minute round trip) You are not factoring insurance which at 18, will be expensive AF. You are not factoring today’s gas prices and unforeseen circumstances or repairs.
That 16.50 an hour even at 40 hours, you would honestly be working full time just to afford the car alone. The insurance alone will snatch a good chunk of your check. I say if you can and it’s applicable, commute by train, bus or locate a closer job.
Not knowing your home life and assuming you have no help in any factor, you could get yourself a beater for that cost, but long term unless you magically start making a lot more money or just hope your car doesn’t breakdown a lot OR if you have a patent that can help you with insurance You’re very very limited, your savings game plan would be incredibly tight.
I say this confidently as I coached my little sister to be independent and build up a credit score She didn’t listen to me and got a BMW and what not
She basically works to pay the car and insurance instead of bring able to have for herself, tough love but now she knows.
