And whilst yes, you shouldn’t be touching your phone at all (at least that’s the rule in Australia, don’t know about over there), I think we can all see the difference between taking a photo and full on starring at it going down the road scrolling Instagram, watching videos, texting your friends, etc

This reminds me of the only time a four wheeler snitched on me. No phone in hand but they sent a pic of my trailer. Got a call from my dispatcher about running a car off the road. I wondered why they were taking someone dumb enough to take a photo while driving seriously. Nothing came of it.

What's so dangerous about pressing record and aiming it?

trailers literally have QR codes on them. Do you ever look at billboards while driving? I was obviously in a situation where I had to record him. Tonnes of regards are doing stupid shit in thier cabs, sometimes if it gets out of hand you need evidence. I posted above, exactly what I did.

I see your point, but maybe op has smart glasses on. Even if he doesn't, he has plausible deniability.

Also taking a picture is a lot more momentary then scrolling or texting, but both aren't following the hands free rule and both are running huge risks.

I try to remember I'm not the police and not to waste energy judging other truckers, but if there weren't any people to retaliate against them (not me) then they'd become a lot bigger of a problem. But sometimes people that retaliate are part of the problem as well.

I actually order smart glasses. My last phone holder almost tilted to face sideways.

But its not hard to press record on your phone while its mounted, pull it off the mount and aim it while looking forward.

I had to do it because the guy was being way too dangerous.

not a trucker yet currently getting my CDL A. been cycling and driving in ny for a LONG time. Seen a lot of bullshit. Two things. Speed and distractions. Takes one second to fuck over multiple people, including himself. At 50 mph, it’s guaranteed. Seen it already too many times.

People think they have that second to react, then they dont. Then it’s a game of what ifs and regrets. Just look at some first responder subs.

Truckers are arrogant. Just read the responses here. They can't handle me bringing awareness to a major issue probably because they do the same shit. Then complain when companies put in driver facing cams.

Unfortunately most truckers in America are made up of the dumbest people from here and around the world. Its a game of death. I'm sick of it and will finally get out in september.

Driving and taking pictures with your phone is just as dangerous as texting while driving. You're passing him while doing the exact same thing he is doing and then posting a shame picture on reditt? And you're considering turning him in to his company? I'm curious who gets written up or fired first. How about you quit being a Kevin, put both hands on the wheel, eyes forward. Or do you think maybe when I met a dangerous driver, I press record of my phone, pull it off its holder, and aimed i, with one hand.. without looking at him..

What do you think made me want to do that? Might it be because if I find someone got killed that I have evidence of what this genius was doing?

The effort I put into taking the recording (and screen capping it later) is literally the same effort of reaching over to grab a drink and taking a sip. No eyes were taken off the road.

But yes as i post this on reddit I almost hit a funeral procession so my mad on that
