ArtsyRabb1t@reddit
Every night. My joints will make me get back out of bed if I try not too.
Kyauphie@reddit
Yup. I Booty Kicker, bands, and the floor.
AlienPrimateHybrid@reddit
Hell yes. As a matter of fact, I stretch more now than when I was younger. I do fairly intense workout routines, though not as much as I should. Kickboxing, jump rope, weights, walking...so I need to keep myself loose so that I don't tear 50 different muscles when I land a kick or something. I want to be that old guy in your neighborhood you always see walking around trying to stay fit.
dangleofpoop@reddit
I go to yoga twice a week
Stitchin_Squido@reddit
I try to get to body balance once a week and was doing yin yoga another day but lately my schedule has been crazy so just body balance.
kiipii@reddit
Hamstrings and calves every day in the shower.
phlopfrog@reddit
Yoga at least once per week. There are heaps of free content on YouTube. I also foam roll before every run and stretch my legs and hips thoroughly afterwards. I also do a full body stretch routine after lifting weights 2x per week. It absolutely helps everything.
higglesworth@reddit
I do before lifting heavy things, and also switched to a standing desk at the house. Spending 6+ hours standing instead of sitting has done amazing things for the hip joints
_WisePenny_@reddit
I've been stretching and doing yoga flow for a few years now. Before that I had tons of back and hip pain, found out it was from tight muscles pulling my pelvis into a non-neutral position. I had tons of shoulder and neck pain too - still working through that, and trying to open my chest and shoulders instead of folding forward into myself.
Preventative flexibility and mobility are so important as we age if we don't want to end up hunched over and unable to move as we age.
terrab123@reddit
StretchLAB ✨ dooo it!
NoInvestment3870@reddit
Fuuuck, I need to do more stretches, I’m doing life raw & feeling it more each day.
CarRamrod72@reddit
Everything hurts!!
banality_of_ervil@reddit
Yeah, I'm just now realizing that this is a thing I should do.
Puzzleheaded_Race_90@reddit
I'm here to encourage you
CokBlockinWinger@reddit
Ever since I found out I have Plantar Fasciitis, you bet your sweet healthy feet I do
zerombr@reddit
do you do that trick of freezing a water bottle, and rolling it under your foot?
CokBlockinWinger@reddit
Yes
NPC261939@reddit
No, but I should. I can't imagine running, lifting, and cycling without some sort of warm up is good for me in the long run.
Cpmartini1@reddit
This one.
RalphWaldoEmers0n@reddit
A scientific study I read is that when you do this, it stretches your hips and if done correctly they will no longer lie - which I found interesting
jibegirl@reddit
snorts gee thanks dad
OldFashionedGary@reddit
Doctors said to be wise, and keep On reading the signs of your body.
jujumber@reddit
Pigeon pose. Seriously one of the best yoga poses there is. And you can hold it for a while too.
LazarusDark@reddit
I don't believe in it. You ever see a lion limber up before it takes down a gazelle?
JackBlackBowserSlaps@reddit
I would break down if I didn’t ><
SailorCredible@reddit
Yes. I try for 4 times a week. I also use dumbbells, and my walking pad.
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
I never got hurt running and lifting weights.
Stretching? That's another story.
threepair13@reddit
Everyday in some way
craighaney172@reddit
Every single day. Once in the morning and again before bed. I still feel like it’s not enough.
forbiddenicelolly@reddit
Stretching is the best
WendyPortledge@reddit
Every morning, 20-40 minutes, and weights at least two days a week. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and I have to keep moving to help prevent bone fusion.
cloudydays2021@reddit
Yup, most days. I do a little when I get out of bed and usually do a couple of Jessica Valent’s 10-15 minute videos on YT during my workday (I WFH)
MysteryMolecule@reddit
Every fucking day, dude
59apache01@reddit
I have to or else I'm not able to move.
PatchworkGirl82@reddit
I got a rowing machine a few years ago, so I can stretch all the way out. My back feels so good afterwards.
Aggravating-Try1222@reddit
Every morning and before every workout.
katiespecies647@reddit
Yep. I've been doing yoga 3+ days weekly for almost two decades. I don't push myself to any extremes (I tore my labrum in my hip doing that in my 20's). I just do a gentle 30 minute morning routine that covers everything.
elonmusktheturd22@reddit
No, i am physically incapable of it with all the metal bolted to my spine. I have spent years with an overpowering urge to do so but can't, its torture
vulgarvinyasa2@reddit
I used to. I still do but I used to, too.
DaveinOakland@reddit
I lift. I don't do static stretches.
Sharpshooter188@reddit
Have to now. 42 now. A few years ago. I started from a standing to jogging pace in about 4 steps. I heard and felt a CRACK in my right ankle. Didn't roll it or anything. I looked down in fucking disbelief. Like "WHAT?! HOW?!"
Somebody_or_other_@reddit
Yeah, I do yoga, barre strength classes five times a week. I'm in the best shape of my life at 48 and haven't had back spasms for years.
rm78noir@reddit
As best I can. My back is so bad that I can't do anything to much.
rey_as_in_king@reddit
already hypermobile in my large joints, no need! /s
FlurkingSchnit@reddit
Me too. Strengthen >> Stretching any day.
Gryrok@reddit
You're not old, you just don't stretch

Educational_Loan_752@reddit
Only my budget.
CliftonHangerBombs@reddit
I do Pilates 3 times a week.
Juliet_1982@reddit
Yes! This!!
I got a bulging disc in my back about 10 years ago and would end up stuck in bed several times a year when it got aggravated, until I found reformer Pilates 3 years ago. Now I go 3 to 4 times a week, my back pain is pretty much gone and I haven’t been stuck in bed since. I think it’s one of the best habits someone in their 40’s or 50’s can get into!
I am a certified night owl but I love Pilates so much for managing my back pain, I get up at 530am for the classes. I don’t even wake up that early for my kids. That’s what tv is for!
BoDrvr@reddit
Same. Am a straight dude, and I love it.
Therealfern1@reddit
5-10 minutes a day each morning after my workout
Then a 46-60 minute stretch/yoga session once a week
eight-sided@reddit
Yes, I do circus so I need every scrap of mobility I can get. Still slowly getting better!
Vectors2_Final@reddit
I try and do hip stretches and psoas stuff.
I also like to sit on my knees (seiza) for my shins, thighs, and ankles.
And finally anterior compartment exercises.
ckglle3lle@reddit
Yes, been doing a nightly stretching routine pretty much for 20 years or so. No particular favorite, they all feel good.
PlantedinCA@reddit
Less stretching and more dynamic mobility work. Workouts also really need extended warmups now.
Hammerhandle@reddit
I don't. It's probably not smart, but the only times I've been injured while lifting were when I was stretching daily. Still do lots of rowing and warmup sets though.
New_Stats@reddit
I would die if I didn't stretch. Well not die but I'd be in constant pain and probably need more spine and joint surgeries
I do it in the morning before I get out of bed, then a quick ten minutes before I go to work, then I constantly stretch at work, at least once an hour, and then after dinner for 30-60 minutes, then before bed for five minutes
Best one is laying down and trying to get your foot to the opposite shoulder. That stretches your lumbar. If you aren't flexible just lay down with your foot flat on the bed and your other foot crossed over your knee
davidbowiesmerkin@reddit
Yoga 4x per week (at home)
sprinklesadded@reddit
Every morning! It helps me get moving.
TheSean_aka__Rh1no@reddit
I sit too much at work this tightens the hips, led to lower back stiffness, that led to be doing incorrect stretches, and I minced 3 discs in my back.
It was a comedy of poor management, exercise, lifestly and errors in execution of 'relief' stretching that I hadn't done for months.
I've largely remediated the issue over 14 months, and losing weight to deal with the other issues.
I now daily stretch, exercises based on strictly on what my Physiotherapist prescribed.
It's what works for you, but mine are largely focused on tight hips from sitting too much. Feel relatively limber when I get out of bed, even post workout, it's pretty awesome
SameMasterpiece4940@reddit
Stretching might be one of the most important things we do for physical activity. Stretching strengthens the muscles and does something that keeps us strong and flexible. I’m pretty sure it’s one of the keys to longevity.
Comfortable-nerve78@reddit
Every morning, physical job and a lifetime of doing it. I have to stretch or I can’t move. I do up downs on a slab all day I walk anywhere from 4 miles a day to yesterday I did 15 miles at work so yeah I stretch. Oh I drag a 25 pound weight around it’s my helper. Hold my tapes and chalk line in place. Four to five hours daily dragging it around. Stretching is my friend now.
tettoffensive@reddit
Constantly.
JuliusSeizuresalad@reddit
Before I show off my junk in front a new person
SashimiRick@reddit
Yep. I stretch after every exercise session, 7 days a week.
el_pinko_grande@reddit
No never, particularly not before working out.
bgva@reddit
I've started stretching before I get outta bed. Need to do that more.
no_pjs@reddit
All the time. I also run a lot. But not always sequential or even on a schedule, lol. Mostly I stretch the tight muscles that are throwing me off balance. And my back because I’m getting old(er).
MYRTL routine if you’re looking for a set though it is geared toward runners. My personal favorites are standing wall calf stretches, hip rotators, head to knees, child pose (back) and leg swings.
Yoga is nice too, hot Yoga not so much ;)
Significant_Role4308@reddit
When I wake up it's a full body stretch before I get out of bed. Toes pointed south and head pointing north. Great way to start the day
IslingtonCrane@reddit
I got a yoga hammock during lockdown and I'm in it at least 10 times a day. Back bends of any angle to full inversions. I'm 48 so I also try do do some bodyweight work to oil the machine.
I_AM_DEATH-INCARNATE@reddit
I do basic stretches after workouts. Sometimes I try yoga with my wife and I feel like I'm going to absolutely die. Good workouts though, and I've incorporated some simpler poses into my stretching routine, which usually runs about 5 to 8 minutes after a workout.
Chivalry4Me@reddit
Yep. As soon as I get up in the morning.
ProsodyProgressive@reddit
Every. Single. Morning.
I don’t think I’d be mobile if I didn’t!
animus218@reddit
I know I should stretch. Does that count?
Stretching my arms behind my back to clip my bra, it feels like it should count.
Getting dressed, socks, shoes, all stretching exercises.
Right‽
sammyclemenz@reddit
I’m stiff every day. Any suggestions I’m all ears
Ok_Percentage5157@reddit
Allll the time. Switched types of workouts from hard lifting to more encapsulating full body workouts, and stretching after is important. In the mornings I stretch to wake up the body, and then do some cardio.
Worth_Specific3764@reddit
I stretch every morning with my cat before I get out of bed. Then again at night. During the day too if I'm about to do something physical (I build tiny homes, so some days are way more physical than others). Stretching is SOOO GOOOD for you!
tdrake2406@reddit
There is a leg adductor machine I sit in at the gym to spread my legs further apart because my hips are super tight from sitting all day. I also do regular stretches at night before bed
Zyste@reddit
After herniating a disc in my lower back, yes. Every day.
Zeke688@reddit
I only have a slightly bulged disc, but yep I’m in too much pain if I don’t stretch every morning.
FrequencyHigher@reddit
Every time I exercise I do a full body stretch routine. I’ve noticed that very few others at the gym do the leveling of stretching I do, but they are also mostly younger too.
Alaska_Pipeliner@reddit
Daily
DeltaFlyer0525@reddit
Everyday! It really helps with soreness after waking up.
jdmjdmjdm@reddit
I bolted a pull up bar into the basement rafters and hang, hang. It is low enough I can get feet up on the bench press bench out in front and hang low and turn and cross the legs over and let is sag in real good. Oh my goodness.
My wife got one of those tilt tables where you can go upside down and stuff and hang from your ankles. Havent quite gotten the hang of that one yet. Needs and empty stomach lol
Additional_Shine_509@reddit
Any time I throw plastic. Otherwise, I have to be reminded.
YogurtclosetDull2380@reddit
That first toss can ruin your whole day if you ain't warm
odin_the_wiggler@reddit
I don't go too wild with it, but I do try to get all the Dad noises out with some stretches before the kids wake up.
This is also when the dog stretches, so I have a stretching buddy.
burgundyblue@reddit
I work from home. Every time we have our morning stand up, I do stretches since I’m not required to have my camera.
Express-Cow190@reddit
I try every day but I don’t always have time for my full routine. Back and hip flexors always feel like the best bang for my buck when I do them though at the least
Working5daysaWeek@reddit
Yeah. Try to do it at least once a day. Some simple yoga stretches, especially bc I sit so much.
m155m30w@reddit
Squat position, touch the floor with ur hands, then lift ur butt in the air. That feel the burn hammy stretch 😸
