I want to upgrade my 12yr old dell latitude laptop for fortnite and Minecraft. Its from Quoted Tech.
I have done enough research I think without going down a rabbit hole of always searching for something better and not making a decision.
I seem to have been drawn to and focused on this one.

Thank you all for the comments.

? This is terrible for $2600. You can get a 9800x3d 5080 32gb ddr5 build with a 2tb storage device for that price.

I think this looks nice which is also another decision in my research https://quoted.tech/desktops/pre-configured/shield-r7-5700-5070-32-1

Honestly, not terrible. To buy those specific components and Windows 11 would cost more than buying that system.
But for a little less if you build it yourself you can get this which is a little faster:

Or this, which has a significantly faster CPU.

Thank you

The one you linked uses a regular ryzen 7 5700, not the 5700X, the regular 5700 has half the cache and is not even as good as the 5600x in gaming, avoid that one.

Oh. Sorry. Same picture what it looks like but with the specs I mentioned to start

Canadian $

I’d lean more towards a am5 system. Unless they continue to make more am4 cpus the upgrade path won’t be strong on the cpu side. Plus getting ddr4 is going to get increasingly more difficult as time goes on
NoU4206911@reddit
Beat me to it, this is your best way forward, OP.
kalibxrr@reddit
Even getting a 7800x3d in place of that 5700x would be a great start in terms of upgradability and if something god willing breaks

Will look. Again, appreciate all comments

Appreciated

In my humble research I will admit I had know idea what a chipset even was. Let alone what am5 or 4 meant.
I have been researching for about 3mos. I am happy to know the difference now and understand ddr4 and ddr5 and chipset speak. I am actually thrilled that I know.
What sold me the most was I read somewhere that upgrading to a maxed out last Gen parts is a solid choice for mid level gaming that will bring years of joy without worrying about upgrading parts later because by the time you are at that point things will be different than the best thats offered now
kalibxrr@reddit
I mean you can if that’s the path you wanna go just keep in mind to use anything past 5000 series requires new ram cpu and motherboard to upgrade just the cpu to 7000 and up

Absolutely not. I'm not sure exactly what tax is like as it depends on your state assuming you are talking in USD and are in the US. But for around 2k maybe 2.1k without tax you should be able to get a 9800X3D + 32GB DDR5 (6000Mhz CL30) + 9070XT, with B850 + 850W gold PSU, 1TB SSD etc etc.

It works out to 1885 USD
Rad_Habits@reddit
AM5 system with 2tb of storage, and it's currently cheaper than the system you were quoted on. Free shipping in Canada as well.

Cheers!

All responses have been appreciated and helpful. I felt comfortable in my research but somehow couldn't seem to get to this. Thanks

Canadian dollars. Tax in
AdstaOCE@reddit
Depending on what part of Canada (for local tax rate) this is either cheaper or maybe just a bit more for something much better: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/gr3ntC of course that would be building yourself though, but it has better everything by a large margin.

I dont know if this link is allowed but this is it.
