I have been told that often they make their food like this on purpose so it’s unappealing to eat so they won’t get food cravings. Food is just supposed to be fuel, not something enjoyable.
I dunno. Just sounds like an eating disorder to me ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I’ve heard this and never understood it because eating bland food like this all the time would end up in me having a massive binge on junk food or takeout that actually tastes good and I’d blow my diet.
Earing disorders aren't rational ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I've met at least one vegan who used her veganism as an excuse to justify an eating disorder before - she wouldn't cook with oil and limited her intake of things like peanut butter and nuts and seeds that are full of healthy fats - and then kept talking about how it was hard for her to stay full. She was underweight and very physically active. Like, being vegan doesn't mean you aren't allowed to use cooking oil and healthy vegans do eat plant-based fats. Our bodies need some fats in moderation - especially with an active lifestyle.
if i was given something i deemed unhealthy i’d sometimes spray it with perfume to make it taste disgusting. i still can’t eat most sweet/ sugary things to this day because it still grosses me out
I’m from the south so everything has flavor (mostly) is there honestly people that cook like this? I mean did they season everything with luke warm water 🤦🏻♀️
my mum genuinely thinks black paper is spicy. if i cook and i put the tiniest bit of pepper in it she notices and starts panting like i’ve spiked her food with hot peppers.
Skin and whiteness of that chicken making it look like you’re eating sections of an albino python. My god it’s could be a white room torture dish too being so white if the plate weren’t blue
You know what? I just suffered a mild food poisoning(lesson for me, eat seafood as fresh as possible), and that kind of meal I'm craving for😁.
Plane rise and boiled chicken, with mildly salted chicken stock as a sauce.
I'm afraid, that if I add any other flavors, I'm just throw up.((
There was also a really tasty waterless chicken recipe that was from a Chinese influencer, where you cooked it on top of a bed of green onions & ginger after marinating it in soy sauce & cooking wine
Most comments are asking for seasoning--which is true--but these are bone-in, skin-on thighs, no? The fat would render its own level of flavor without even salt and pepper and yet the meat is so pale and unappetizing, like you boiled rather than baked. The true self-hatred is in boiling the chicken when you could've had crispy skin and leftover fat to cast over the rice.
How is that even a comparison? We’re talking about the fact that the food is unseasoned, not that it’s healthy. I promise a little seasoning isn’t gonna kill you.
No but a person can season food without it being unhealthy. There things between plain boiled chicken with plain white rice and eating Macdonalds ever day.
When I do it it’s cuz I’m giving it to my sick dog. This plate is more or less what my dogs get when they have sore tummy, sans chicken skin, but even then sometimes the dogs will get a bit of oregano or something. This is sad
There is a world where, soaked into the rice and underneath all the white, is a flavorful chicken broth you made while sous vide'ing the chicken at a tender temperature with lemongrass, ginger etc.
I don't think this is that world, but I can convince myself it is if I don't look and think too hard.
Hainanese chicken. I made it last week, I put too much chicken thighs(so I had to cook it longer and do readjustments I wasn’t expecting) in it but still good
You should add some sunshine to your life. Old bay on the chicken is amazing. Soy sauce on the rice. Even add some mushrooms and spinach. Omg your mouth would explode.
