As you can see by the comments on this thread, Hasan Piker seems to be scaring a lot of wealthy individuals. He is experiencing a smear campaign way beyond his possible influence. The dude is smart and speaks the truth most of the time, and apparently that scares a lot of powerful people.

If you use your brain a bit he really is not. He gets all of his income from subscriptions. Voluntary donations. Nothing else. You dont enforce wealth inequality by simply being a millionaire, you enforce it by lobbying for tax breaks and against working class interests, which Hasan does the oposite of. Living standards in China improved in spite of their government not because of it. They are decades behind their contemporaries despite having more resources and wealth to work with. China has low pay, brutal hours, and terrible standards of living. Sure a lot of people got out of poverty because there was so many people. Per capita gdp metrics are totally irrelevant. The same way that a countries output is not determined by their stock market value. If we go by gdp per capita metrics the US is the beacon of human civilisation where everyone leisurely travels to their 1 hour workday in their own private jets. Pay as well as cost are vastly different in china than in the US, so you have to compare them by GDP PPP numbers. In those metrics China is vastly ahead of the US. The average chinese doesnt have the same income as the average american, but their costs are also only a fraction of the average americans. I already said they have basically free healthcare and almost everyone there owns their own property, so what other big expenditures would they have? I agree that they have worse working hours, but they still live better lives than the average american.

Who said anything about GDP? GDP is a roughly useful way to gauge economic prosperity but not significantly. GDP only essentially tells you the economic power of a country. GDP adjusted for PPP is a nearly useless metric because of international trade. The fact goods are priced lower in China does not mean people actually have the ability to purchase those goods. Especially because imported goods will not be adjusted for PPP. What you want to use in Median Wage adjusted for PPP which China is still incredibly low at not only compared to western nations like the US and Europe but also its regional contemporaries

No both of those regimes saw improvements to the working class in spite of their governments. China for example saw almost no real wage growth until the 70s when they massively liberalized their economy, at least compared to what it was before. Even after due to their heavily manage economy they have seen significantly less economic growth and improvement than their contemporaries. Sure they have lifted a bunch of people out of poverty but that’s because they have a bunch of people. In terms of per capita metric they are doing a pretty abysmal job

People voluntarily buying goods and making rich people richer is not the left wing argument here, which you claim to represent. The argument is that capitalists make their money through exploitation of labor, by using their power position to force people into overtime, less workplace safety, by completly taking the surplus value that is created by their workers, simply because they own the means of production. Hasan has no worker under him, that he exoloits. He has no copyright on his stuff, so anyone can make clips of his vods and make money with them. His podcast is a co-operative where everyone gets equal pay and equal say. He is the single largest individual donor for the Amazon labor union.
You neither understand why Hasan is critiquing the rich, nor do you know what he does, so I really have to wonder why you are even talking in the first place

He has one main youtube channel with a couple editors. As far as I know they get either equal share or 100% of the channel revenue. All other channels are operated by individual fans of his, that get 100% of the revenue their channels make. You could start a channel right now and make money of of his IP. He encourages people to do so.
He likes china for their developement, their public transit not for their worker rights. Infact he is not even okay with american worker rights and constantly advocates for more rights, so why would he then advocate for chinese worker rights? Since I’m not very familiar with the nuances of domestic politics in the US, but I’ve seen Hasan actively support certain politicians effectively giving them access to his massive platform... I’m curious - would this kind of treatment provoke any meaningful pushback from democrats?
Part of the reason I’m asking is that I somewhat envy the fact that the american system is capable of producing influential independent voices and centers of public opinion that can push back against especially harmful political leaders or policies, build alliances, and find common ground with elected officials - essentially serving as a conduit for grassroots political action.
In Russia figures like Hasan simply cannot exist, which makes it extremely difficult to build any genuinely effective political movement. If nobody in the US is willing to stand up for him… I don’t know, that’s honestly pretty depressing.
Or am I overestimating the situation and are all these stories about lawsuits and visa revocations mostly just noise and political posturing aimed at a conservative audience, while in reality nothing will actually happen?

So the context for Hasan is that 2016 saw a huge boom in leftist influencers, comedians, and other figures. They were essentially destroyed in 2020. Because Hasan is a twitch streamer, he was able to survive.
Now leftism is on the rise again, and the center right is desperate to stop it, especially our "opposition party" the democrats. They're operating on the assumption that Piker is some sort of messianic political power, when in reality this rise is much more decentralized. So the right is basically doing the democrats a political favor by trying to take him out.
Will they actually manage to take him out? He has a big audience and a lot of connections, he could drag this out a long time if he wants to. This reeks of desperation rather than strength.

Maybe some but probably not. Israel support is fairly bipartisan and universal in US politics currently. Which is where this is mostly coming from. There are also Democrats that don't like him and has kinda created a small schism in the party. Some of this flack and attacking PR wise is coming from Democrats not just Republicans.
That's why they are going after him to try and strike some fear, intimidate, and through dubious legally exhaustion of silencing to him and any others following after.

This has been the new normal for a while already, in a way the US is behind the curve there compared to the EU.
For example Germany has denied people like Yanis Varoufakis access to Germany based on his stance/statements in the Gaza conflict.
As an EU citizen he doesn’t even need Visa, they just denied him the visit/stay. The Irish band Kneecap went through the same after they publicly stated their solidarity with Palestine: The German government banned them from entering the country even tho Kneecap were booked to play on a whole bunch of festivals.
It’s something even applied to the Ukraine conflict: The EU has been passing sanctions against private individuals for reporting from the Russian side of the conflict.
These sanctions even extend to family members of these individuals, basically punishing family members instead when the individual is out of reach in Russia.
It’s all incredibly undemocratic because those decisions and sanctions are not made by courts and judges, but rather by unelected political committees.

Right wing people tend to think it's worse to be 'called' [Bad Person] than it is to BE a [Bad Person]
So a lot of their arguments come from trying to apply the same names that they themselves are called, to whoever they're mad at and hoping something sticks.
A right winger is more likely to try and insist bernie sanders is a bigot because they know 'bigot' is bad and want people to think he's bad, than they are to actually internalize what is 'bad' about being a bigot and who that applies to.
So you get replies like this that clearly haven't internalized what is bad about being a grifter and instead try to apply it to a dude calling for positive change.

I think there will be many Tribal feelings here. But I do not like this person, I consider myself fairly left wing but I disagree with many things he advocates. Recently I remembered him saying that a gamer shouldn't seek out experiences of being a father because they are smelly and will never get a girlfriend and generally sometimes he is hateful.
Still I don't think he should be banned for saying this stuff. He should have his right to say what he feels.

you should watch the streams, a lot of the clips floating around are clipped to intentionaly misconsrtue what hes saying. he doesnt always have good takes no one ever does but some of the most popular clips out there tend to be to misconstrue his better points.

That’s a very big ask considering streaming is basically Pikers job, he spends most of his day streaming.
So asking somebody else to watch the streams is asking them to spend a substantial part of their day watching Twitch.
Which is a very big ask of somebody else just to “properly” understand Pikers positions.
IMHO it showcases the biggest flaw with how political activism/commenting is practiced these days: The live stream nature with sponsorships and donations leads to a quantity over quality approach.
People streaming all day long, every day, generates a lot of “content”, but with so much of it the quality will be lacking, and one quality is how concise and to the point people can formulate their positions.
If that is lacking then it’s easy to misread statements, even easier to do it with intent when there are so many statements because 8 hours of streaming time per day need to be filled with “content”.

He was probably talking about incel gamers who IRL hate women and who really care about the survival of the white race and how important it is to have many beautiful white babies with a subservient wife, while being total losers. He conflated those guys with regular (maybe a bit lonely) gamers in a dismissive manner which is why he got hate. I get where he is coming from, this argument he made against incel gamers is understandable, and he gets a lot of hate from loser gamer types, which is probably why he said the thing so carelessly but he should have clarified what kind of people he talks about.

He didn't conflate with anything, he's talking about people who are "very concerned" about birth rates. It says it right there. He's obviously not talking about every gamer or even every lonely gamer and that's a read that only happens when you're already primed to take offense.
