what do americans think of some europeans hating on them?

i’m from a very small city in the northernmost part of the eu and see a lot of people dissing americans for various reasons like your politics, loudness, culture etc. in my opinion regular americans are very charming though and i’ve only had good experiences, for example there was an american exchange student once that was very outspoken and really warm and lovely to me and everyone else. i also think your accents sound nice and really exciting to hear in real life if that makes sense. anyway from what i’ve seen it’s pretty one-sided so i’m curious of what you actually have to say about it? i know i’d probably be pretty frustrated if a group of people dissed on my nationality for no good reason
(please ignore any mistakes in my english)

I don't know if you have ever watched Doctor Who, but there is a species of alien called The Ood. They are born with their brain on the outside, making them extremely vulnerable.
Humans eventually begin to put the Oods' brains in these orbs that are supposed to translate their thoughts into speech. It's supposed to protect their brain from harm because it's a hard shell.
The Ood are perfect servants because they like serving. Similar to House Elves in Harry Potter. It gives them purpose.
But then the Doctor finds a group of Ood who do not have their brains in orbs just yet. They are huddled close together, keeping their hands around their brains, trying to shield them by forming a circle together with their backs to the outside. He found them by following a hauntingly beautiful song.
And he realizes, the orbs aren't the protection and translation they seem. They are actually a way of controlling the Ood. Protection and translation are just a side effect, a marketing scheme. The actual purpose is to keep the Ood suppressed, oppressed, and turning them into an item instead of a living being.
The doctor's companion says, "They're born with their brains in their hands, don't you see, that makes them peaceful. They've got to be, 'cause a creature like that would have to trust anyone it meets."
The average American is an Ood. We are unable to really focus on how others think of us because we are just trying to survive.

I personally don’t care and think it’s funny at the same time. Most of the hater’s have never been to the US or had any real conversations with an American. Like every other place we have loud obnoxious people but we also have amazing caring people. I can tell you my experience with Europeans in the US is a mixed bag. I’ve dealt horrible tourists that leave huge messes in restaurants and other places but the vast majority are respectful to others. My mother is from England and I’ve been to Europe many times. I personally have no issues with Europeans.

Personally, I often find it frustrating because the opinions come with a lack of education on how the US actually works and a lack of willingness to learn. ‘Just strike’ really grinds my gears. Most of our states have ‘at will’ employment laws, meaning you can be fired for whatever reason with no notice, plus our healthcare is tied to our employment.

Your English was just fine.
I am sure that there are also plenty of people just like you who have good feeling about Americans. They are probably just not as vocal. I have found that haters of anything tend to be the most vocal.
Do I care? No, not really. I would also say that if there are Americans who dislike people from any of the European countries, the Europeans should also disregard us.
Disliking an entire group because of the behaviors of a few or because of stereotypes is just prejudice. Don’t give them the attention that they seek.

I don't think about them
Gini555@reddit
\^\^ This pretty much sums it up. Americans really do not think about it.

It’s universally true that there’s usually a vocal ignorant majority. Logically I know that most average Europeans are indifferent at worst about Americans, if not generally hospitable otherwise, and can separate the average US citizen from the politics/know that our current state of affairs doesn’t mean we all believe it’s right.
That said, given the aforementioned vocal minority is usually what crops up on here, it gets tiring seeing the same old insults or boasts.
Honestly what bothers me the most are the humble brags. “Oh dear I didn’t realize just how bad your healthcare system was” or “oh that must be burdensome to not have your neighborhood grocer/butcher/baker right around the corner in walking distance, and need an car for everything”. News flash, we know, we’ve known for a long time, and you pointing it out again all “friendly-like” and “concerned” doesn’t make me feel better, it’s condescending.

We think it's weird you guys do stuff like that. It gives major stan behavior.

It's pretty frustrating. Lots of the things we get criticised for are things that Europeans also do. Europe has a pretty high obesity rate, lots of food additives in Europe are banned in the US for being unsafe, there's a lot of racism in Europe, many of our words that we get criticised for using are English in origin, etc.
Then there's lots of misconceptions about how we think/work. Our politicians rarely get more than 50% of the popular vote but everyone acts like we all support whoever is president at the time. We learn the metric system in school alongside the US system, so we all understand what a meter or a kilogram is. Our education systems are actually pretty good. Dumb people exist in every country but only in America does it seem like our dumbest people are taken as representatives of our entire populace.
Lots of stuff like that.

Politically we deaerve it.
Hating on culture is just stupid. "Oh no Americans are loud and engage in too much small talk, how terrible!"
All countries have rude tourists, that's just a matter of scale. If more people from X country visit, you'll have more of their jerks mixed in.
RedneckBorealis@reddit
When I'm home, I don't think about it. When I'm abroad, I don't care about it, except when it's an American traveler trashing their country to earn "points" with non-Americans (which is equal parts common and cringey).
MojoShoujo@reddit
Honestly America as a whole has done plenty to deserve some ire, it's mostly a shrug and "eh fair enough" from me.

This isn't a new thing.

I give not a single care what someone in Europe thinks of America or Americans.
