Steel cased ammo for the emerging Hyper rifle ammo needs?

Obviously it requires less material from steel to get the same strength as it would be required with brass, and thus the cartridge case of a same caliber can be lighter and have larger case volume. And by the way it can be cheaper, but that depends on a lot of factors.
Of course there's a penality in the thermal characteristics of steel compared to brass in this context. It would be harder on extractors especially in this context. Beefier bolt designs, allowing for larger extractors would be at advantage here and also using alloys and improved coatings for the case can help with extraction. Plus, of course. Maintanance.

Going with the hybrid option, as seen on IMAGE 2 with a brass body with a steel casehead as seen for example on the miltiary load of the 6.8x51mm. This, leads to added steps in manufacturing, which means more QC.
And as we learned the difficulties in manufacturing emerged. And also, the different thermal characteristics of the two metals can also cause issues but we shall see how that concept works out!
How about a different kind of hybrid and the other way around? This time attaching a stainless steel head onto a nickel alloy body?

The bi-metal design of 6.8x51mm increases the PSI to 80.000 or something, if I recall correctly. I like the design and it is pretty cool.
The Army is dead set on sticking to AR15 + its ergonomics + its manual of arms. Beefing up the working internals is not a wise solution in the long term. There will be a lot of failures to the platforms and the weight of the gun increases. It is pretty ironic that the Army wants a short carbine and lightweight yet decides to beef up the internals which increases weight AND wants the gun to hit target further than 300-400m.
Ian McCollum has made several videos on why he thinks XM7 and the cartridge 6.8x51mm (not the bi-metal design) are a bad idea. It would be far better if a new platform was to be designed using pre-existing knowledge from platforms like SCAR, CZ BREN. Custom chassis so chance of grunts fucking it up is lowered compared to AR15, while highly modular, can be a pain in the ass if grunts somehow mess up the screws and torques.
This way, gun engineers are not confined to the AR15 limited dimensions and they get to be creative. Heck, they can add barrels with progressive twist rate.

I for one love the 6.8x51. But that's personal use. I used to shoot a wildcat that's almost identical in case dimensions. Factory loads that'll chamber and shoot are great when I want to be lazy. I can't speak to the xm7 just the cartridge. For big game hunting it'll do anything a . 308 can with less recoil and better flight ballistics. I do believe for military use the hi pressure cased 6.8x51 would be a good replacement for the . 308 and 6.5 creedmoor for long range engagement

The guns the military has see a lot more usage than your rifles. The increased pressure is a huge burden on the platform and the cost per round is comparable to 50 cal I genuinely don't understand why you think this is a huge benefit. That is also not even getting into how much more a 6.8 platform weighs than 5.56 platform both on the gun and with the extra rounds. Fire and maneuver is everything and cutting the number of rounds and increasing the weight every soldier carries makes no sense.

Ian McCollum has videos on it, so does Garand Thumb, Brandon Herrera, and every guntuber who has ever gotten their hands on one.
I don't think I've heard anything good about it other than "looks cool" and "fun to shoot, but that goes for any SBR"

Any thoughts on polymer cased ammo? Aside from deformation in a magazine stored long term, I see it as a somewhat viable alternative.
